March 2018

Dear Concordia Alumna/us,

March?!? In like a lion and out like a lamb (check--we had the second biggest snowstorm of the year on March 1). March Madness (check--both men's and women's basketball teams competed in post-season play.) National Pi Day (3-14--clever). And a month that hosts other unique celebrations. While the world is choosing to celebrate those interesting things, we wait. As March goes out like a lamb, we focus on April 1, not as a fool's day, but as the day the Lamb is raised and our salvation is sealed.

In His Service,

Live Uncommon -- Concordia's New Brand

Since the merger of CUAA and CUW, we have characterized our relationship as one university with two residential campuses. As we find additional ways to develop this new identity, we want to share what that means and how we live it. Please take a minute to look at our new branding video or new website (cuaa.edu).
A Manor Christmas -- Returning in 2018

The excitement is about to pick up again as the Concordia Guild, in partnership with CUAA, begins planning for A Manor Christmas 2018. Volunteers are the key to this event's success, so please consider what your role might be. Planning meetings will begin soon! Contact Joan Koerschen at manorchristmas@cuaa.edu for more information.

Alumni comments from A Manor Christmas 2017:
  • "The decorating was incredible to see! I also think that the secret cellar and passages were the most memorable parts of the Manor tours for most visitors."
  • "My favorite part of the event was seeing so many people coming to see the beginning foundation of Concordia Ann Arbor."
  • "I have attended 25 yrs of Boar's Head at CUAA. The addition of A Manor Christmas was VERY exciting! It added an extra air of welcome and the spirit of history and Christ's love."

Spring Break Mission Trips -- It's All About Serving

During the week of March 12 and over their spring break, students from CUAA and CUW will be travelling to several locations to live out Concordia's mission, "to develop in mind, body, and spirit for service to Christ in the Church and the world." Combined campus groups are travelling to New Orleans and Appalachia and some CUAA students will be travelling to Haiti. Please keep these students in your prayers and consider a gift to help them defray costs.
