Dear KCU Alumni,

Our country suffered a great loss this past weekend with the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Appointed by President Bill Clinton in 1993, she was just the second woman in U.S. history to serve on the nation’s highest court. Known for her passionate dissenting opinions among a conservative majority, Ginsburg was heralded as a champion of gender equality and a fierce advocate for civil rights for all.

She was a legal pioneer who, over the course of her career, changed the landscape for American women. Among her most notable contributions was helping to alter an all-male admissions policy that was in place for 157 years at the Virginia Military Institute. In the landmark Lilly Ledbetter gender discrimination employment lawsuit, her efforts helped lay the groundwork for advancing equal pay for women.

A truly historic figure, Ginsburg will be remembered as a brilliant legal mind and compassionate crusader. She championed the message that, in this country, it is acceptable to disagree, but not to be disagreeable. Please join me in remembering The Honorable Ruth Bader Ginsburg and her contributions to our country.

Yours truly,
Marc B. Hahn, DO
