Risen indeed. Alleluia!

The words of Sunday's gospel are most often heard during a funeral service. It is a popular choice of scripture for that occasion because the words provide wonderful assurance that the one who has died in Christ has now taken up residence in their heavenly home. The gospel begins by Jesus saying that he will prepare a place for each one of us. But as the text continues, we can see that our place is not an isolated room of our own in a giant heavenly mansion. Jesus' words are less about a place than a relationship: our relationship with Jesus and God the Father. They tell us that in Jesus we know all we need to know about God, and just as we can have a relationship with another human person, we can also have a relationship with God that will one day be as real and obvious as are our relationships with one another. The hope of one day being with Christ fully and forever is as real as the works we are called to do in his name today. [Sundays and Seasons, 2020]

As we long to be together again, to share communion, and to worship in our sacred spaces, we will continue abstaining from the rituals and sacraments we love for the foreseeable future. I hope you take comfort knowing these sacrifices are for the common good, because as important as in-person worship is to us, the lives of the beloveds of All Saints' and our neighbors are infinitely more so. In all of this, know that God is with you as St. Columba's prayer from the sixth century reminds:
Be a bright flame before me, O God a guiding star above me.
Be a smooth path below me, a kindly shepherd behind me today, tonight, and for ever.
Alone with none but you, my God I journey on my way;
what need I fear when you are near, O Lord of night and day?
More secure am I within your hand than if a multitude did round me stand.
Amen.

As we continue to celebrate the fifty days of Easter, may you know and take comfort in Jesus' promise that he goes to prepare a place for his followers in his Father's house. Your baptism commissioned you to share Jesus' mission in the world. May you (as the epistle of First Peter reminds) know that you are holy, called to proclaim the one who calls you out of darkness into light. May you, with the very words and deeds of your life, bear witness to the risen Christ-the way, the truth, the life.

Alleluia! Christ is risen. The Lord is risen indeed. Alleluia!

A Psalm for this Time

FROM THE MUSIC CORNER by Holly Simons
We continue this fifth week of Easter 2020 to offer videos on our web site from the corresponding service in  2017 - whole service video and bulletin, organ prelude with special pictures, processional hymn, choir anthem (Lift Up Your Heads), and finally a new piano recording with spring pictures, of Beethoven's Pathetique Sonata, commemorating his 250 year. The bulletin for this week's 10 AM Sunday morning live stream by Pastor Bill is available here too. All this is available at our web site on the Worship Links page.
 Soli Deo Gloria! Holly

Join us for Church Each Week

Our buildings might be closed but the Church God has gathered as All Saints' Wolfeboro and the larger Episcopal branch of the Jesus movement is alive and very much open. We are staying connected as we digitally gather online for worship, an encouraging message, faith formation, support and fellowship. Since we have shifted to an online format during this time of COVID-19 exile, we are connecting with more than 300 people each week.

Pastoral Care

Individuals, who wish to receive pastoral care through a listening ear and prayer, are encouraged to contact the Church Office or Pastor Bill directly. He is available via e-mail, phone, or Zoom video conferencing.

ZOOM FAQ'S

What is Zoom Church?
Zoom Church is a revolutionary way for us to stay connected for church through this time of crisis. We use Zoom Video Conferencing to gather digitally five times a week to connect with God and with others.

What is Zoom Video Conferencing?
Zoom is an easy-to-use video communications tool that allows people to virtually meet with video and audio conferencing. Look for opportunities to connect (using your mobile phone, landline phone, tablet, or computer) in this e-news and in the mailed monthly calendar.

What if I need help with Zoom?
Please contact the church office and we'll connect you with an All Sainter who can assist you. Additional tutorials on how to use Zoom can be found on their website: Zoom

What if I don't have a device?
Please contact the church office and we will seek extra devices that may be able to be lent by another All Sainter during this time. If you have an extra device you could lend, please contact the church office.

What makes Zoom Church unique?
Zoom Church is unique because it incorporates the element of community to an online faith experience. It encourages us to grow closer to one another and take part in faith formation and fellowship during this time while growing closer to God and one another.

What are best practices using Zoom?
1-It is best to "Mute" yourself (bottom left of your screen in a Zoom call) when not speaking, to minimize background noise and feedback. When you have something to say, you don't have to wait for permission, simply "Unmute" and make your voice heard!
2-In the top right of your screen, you can choose between "Speaker View" which enlarges whoever is speaking and minimizes the others, or "Gallery View" which shows all group members equally. Choose whichever you prefer. For those using smartphones, "Gallery View" will only let you see 4 people at a time, but you can swipe the screen to the left to see additional group members.
3-Feel free to utilize the chat function (bottom of the screen) if you don't have a webcam/audio capacities but would like to contribute.

Are You an All Saints' Wolfeboro YouTube Subscriber?

We would like to create a custom url for our YouTube Channel and need 100 subscribers to do so. We currently have 59 and ask that if you are not already subscribed, please visit:  AllSaintsYouTube   and click the grey "Subscribe" button. Thank you!

Connect With God & With Others
"...have you ever found God in church? I never did. I just found a bunch of folks hoping for him to show. Any God I ever felt in church I brought in with me. And I think all the other folks did too. They come to church to share God, not find God." -Alice Walker

The church is where God's people-YOU-are. While we are in exile in our homes, we don't need to go to church to find God, because when we are church together on-line we share God. There are many ways to connect, to see, hear and share God online at All Saints'...

Not sure how to connect via Zoom?
During this time of disconnect due to Covid-19, All Saints' is utilizing Zoom for many gatherings.
From Sunday Virtual Coffee Hour, to Bible Studies, Zoom will allow our congregation to connect live and face-to-face, while following the social guidelines set in place by our government. Here are the steps for participating via computer or telephone:

  1. You will find a link to the event and an I.D. number and password. (Note: The FIRST time you open a Zoom link, it will prompt you to download the app. This is FREE. Please follow the instructions given to install.)
  2. Each Zoom event that you open will ask for the I.D. number and password.
  3. For any video/visual participation, you will need a camera either on your phone, or on your computer. If you do not have one, the invitation email you receive will provide instructions for calling in on your phone.
  4. We encourage participants to mute yourself unless you have an opportunity to speak. Household noises can often times be a distraction to others. If you would like to get your Zoom account set up ahead of time, visit https://zoom.us/.

Troubleshooting:
  1. If you log in and no one else is in the gathering, double check to make sure you have the right date and time; if you do, it's likely that you've clicked/entered the wrong link/address. Each meeting has its own link/address and only works for that gathering. Note: some gatherings use a "wait room" and the host will let you in.
  2. If you get connected but can't seem to connect audio, try using "chat" (link at the bottom of the screen) to ask for help.
  3. If you can only see one person, try clicking on the "speaker view" button on the top and switch it to "gallery view" to see all participants.
  4. If your internet connection fails and you get knocked off, simply join back in. It happens.
  5. If you're stuck, contact the event host/leader.

Thank You for Giving During This Time of Pandemic

Thank you for all who have continued to support the work of All Saints during this time. You may make contributions by mail, using your financial institution's automated check writing service, or secure online giving via  Donate

Creator of all we enjoy, we give you thanks for the countless people you have gathered to do your work as All Saints' Wolfeboro. We thank you for your Holy Spirit inspiring some as they longed for this church, others as they built this church and still others as they lovingly and boldly led this church through times of abundance and times of scarcity. Help us to be bold as we model giving of time and money during this time. Make our generous giving a symbol of both our faith and our gratitude. We pray in the name of your son, Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen.
You Make A Difference

Is there an exceptional All Saints' volunteer we should recognize? Please share any recognition recommendations with our Senior Warden Carolyn Sundquist or Pastor Bill to bring to the Vestry for consideration. Who can we give thanks for the blessings they have shared with our congregation?
