PEDReady Medley & Communication Cards Update
1. New Immunization Schedule for Children
Pediatric immunization history is a critical element of the pediatric history, especially in children with fever or injuries. The CDC released a new update and vaccine schedule earlier this month.  View it now .
2. PEDReady Champions of the Week: Lake County EMS
Shout out to Paramedic Tyler Van Alstine and EMT Ginger Jacobs at Lake County EMS, who were recently honored for their lifesaving efforts with a 12-year-old trauma patient.
3. Florida EMSC/PEDReady Communication Cards
Our communication cards continue to be popular with EMS agencies, EDs and others. They are great for nonverbal children, children and caregivers who do not speak English, and even for distraction! The cards include pediatric pain scales. These cards are attached to ring clip and can be cleaned with routine Sani-cloths for infection control.

Due to the demand for this resource, Florida EMSC will be ordering additional cards. Please review the PDF of the cards and let us know if you have edits or suggestions.
The cards were revised and updated in 2019 to include Spanish terms. There have been requests to add other languages. Do you know the most common languages spoken by your patients? English and Spanish are the most common in Florida. Around 3.64 million people speak Spanish in their households, which accounts for around 20% of the Florida population. The next most common language is French Creole, accounting for about 2% of Florida’s population. Third on the list, French, accounts for 0.6%, and the fourth is Portuguese.
