Grapes are elite players and have come a long way in 8000 years. Five have made it into Painted Horse Winery, but only four can remain. One of the grapes must get voted out of the winery. It’s up to you….
Who could forget
Cabernet Franc’s
deadly pallet as one of the major black grape varieties worldwide. The parent of both Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon it’s principally grown for blending, but can also be vinified alone. Should it be in Painted Horse Winery?
There is nothing shallow about
Grenache
, a red-wine grape grown extensively in France, Spain, Australia and the United States. Particularly versatile both in the vineyard and the winery, making it one of the most widely distributed grapes in the world. Does it deserve to be fermented at Painted Horse Winery?
The Little Blackbird,
Merlot
, has never been a castaway. It is the second most popular red grape in America after Cabernet Sauvignon. Known for being soft, ripe and elegant, it’s easy drinking and gets along well with most foods, but can stand on its own when necessary. Is it right for Painted Horse?
The Durif grape has hidden itself in American with the alias of
Petite Sirah
. The result of experimentation by Dr. François Durif, who successfully crossed Syrah with a grape called Peloursin. It wields a hidden immunity system strong enough to overcome powdery mildew. Will its allusiveness and independence overshadow the other grapes at Painted Horse Winery?
Proven itself successful,
Syrah
is a dark-skinned grape. Its origins have been debated, but its modern viticultural home is unquestionably the northern
Rhône Valley
of eastern France. It has a distinct personality not to be rivaled by others. Sometimes living in the shadows, it has the strength to stand alone. Should it stand at Painted Horse?
These legendary grapes are at battle to see which one gets voted out of the winery! It’s all up to you!
