LICP 2022 Summer Networking Night - August 2
Join LICP on Tuesday, August 2 from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. for a Summer Networking Night at ICONYC Brewing Company. Meet business and community neighbors over light bites from Sobremesa Cocina Mexicana and drinks from ICONYC Brewing. Tickets are $15 for LICP Members and $25 for Non-Members. Queens & Long Island City State of the Market - July 21
Join BISNOW on Thursday, July 21 at 8 a.m. for its annual Queens and Long Island City State of the Market event. The program focuses on acquisition trends, Queens' growing development sectors and rising multifamily demand, and features key leadership from LIC's real estate industry. Apply to Queensbridge Small Business Incubator Program - Deadline: August 15
Rise Light & Power (LICP Member) is sponsoring a 10-week small business incubation course that Queens Public Library will host at their Queensbridge branch this fall. The program is open to residents of NYCHA Queensbridge and zipcode 11101 who are 18+ years old and will provide business development workshops and one-on-one assistance to help budding entrepreneurs launch their products. The deadline to apply is August 15, learn more here.
Nominate Businesses to Join Small Business Advisory Commission
Your neighborhood small business owner could serve on New York City’s first-ever Small Business Advisory Commission.
 
Signed into law by Mayor Adams on May 2, 2022, the Commission will be made up of no fewer than thirty members from across the five boroughs. The Commission will advise the Mayor on initiatives and methods to improve the business and regulatory environment for small businesses in New York City. The Commission will meet at least once every 60 days (in person or virtually). Nominate a small business owner here!
Small Businesses with 100 or Fewer Employees May Receive Tax Credits for Costs Incurred to Increase COVID-19 Safety
Empire State Development announced a COVID-19 Capital Costs Tax Credit Program provides up to $25,000 in tax credits to eligible businesses that made investments to comply with emergency orders and regulations, or to increase public safety in response to COVID-19. Please apply as soon as you can, as funds are expected to run out.

Eligible requirements:
- Operate in NYS
- Have 2021 gross receipts of $2.5M or less
- Employ 100 persons or less
- Have incurred at least $2,000 of qualifying expenses between January 1, 2021 and December 31, 2022.

July 7 - August 11 (Thursdays): Join the Noguchi Museum at the LIC Branch of the Queens Public Library for a drop-in expressive writing workshop for adults. Learn more here.

August 22 (Deadline): Emerging AAPI artists based in New York City are invited to submit designs for the Noguchi Museum’s outdoor banners. The designs must address the theme of peace. Learn more here.

August 31 (Deadline): Artists who have not yet had an institutional exhibition in New York City are invited to submit proposals for solo exhibitions which will be presented at SculptureCenter (LICP Member). Learn more here.

COVID-19 Updates
As of June 18, the CDC recommended that all children 6 months through 5 years of age should receive a COVID-19 vaccine. More information can be found here.

As of June 13, Mayor Eric Adams announced that masks are optional for 2-4 year old children in all early childhood settings. More information can be found here.

As of June 12, air passengers do not need to get tested and show the COVID-19 test result or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 prior to boarding a flight to the U.S. More information can be found here.
