Dear Lakehill seniors and families,

I sincerely appreciate your patience as we weighed our options and opportunities relating to the end-of-year activities. Decision making has been challenging, as guidance from public officials was changing quickly in order to keep us all safe. The input from senior parents, students, and school administrators was also very much appreciated. Each of us has been committed to honoring our seniors in a meaningful way, while still following county and state health guidelines designed to keep our community safe.

We are excited to announce that, in keeping with the wishes of most of our seniors and senior parents, our in-person Commencement Ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 6, at 10:00 a.m., on the football field at the Roger L. Perry Campus. This is an optional event, and you will still be able to receive your diploma if you do not attend. The ceremony, including entrance and departure, will comply with the newly-released guidelines required by Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Education Agency to ensure student, family, staff, and community safety.

These guidelines will include pre-screening graduates and family members who attend (limited to four guests plus the graduate) for any symptoms of COVID-19 and keeping participants six feet apart unless they are members of the same household. Each family will be assigned a section to ensure social distancing. Detailed information will be provided in the next few weeks, including specific plans for arrival and departure. We will work with public health officials accordingly, should underlying public health conditions change and stricter social distancing requirements be mandated.

The use of an outdoor venue, our football field, where many of you have spent numerous hours and have created significant memories, will provide you with one last amazing memory of your time at Lakehill. You are very special to us - and will most likely be the only class in Lakehill history to have this unique and exceptional commencement. Please note that the ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. to account for the Texas heat. As required, there will be no rehearsal, so please watch for further details in the days ahead.

Should you have reservations or have family members who are unable to attend, we are planning to record the ceremony so it can be viewed later.

To the Class of 2020, our hearts are with you as you complete your high school career. Our time together will always be treasured and I hope you are as excited as we are to hold your graduation in-person and for you to enjoy a memorable conclusion to your Lakehill experience.

Best wishes and see you soon,
