Empowering Youth & Families Program

The NC Empowering Youth and Families Program (EYFP) focuses on opioid prevention education for youth and their caregivers.  The goal of the program is to reduce youth substance use, improve parenting skills of caregivers to assist youth in making healthy choices, improve family relationships, and to empower families to lead community change. Onslow County currently has two families participating in the 12 week program. The program will conclude with a family retreat held at the Eastern 4-H Center where participating families will plan a community outreach event.

4-H Dairy Project

The 4-H Dairy Project has begun! For the second year, Simply Natural Creamery in Ayden, NC has provided Jersey calves for the 8-week project. We have twenty 4-Her's paired with nine calves. Youth will be educated on dairy cattle breeds, anatomy, nutrition, showmanship and the dairy industry. At the projects end, youth will be prepared to show their calf at the 2020 Farm Bureau Livestock Showdown.
