Greater Sacramento COVID-19 Update
May 29, 2020
Good Afternoon,

This week, in partnership with the Sacramento Metro Chamber, SACOG, Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce and Valley Vision we officially launched the regional Prosperity Strategy which arose after a Brookings report indicated several weaknesses in our regional economy. It is a critical time for this strategy to be implemented and will help lead our economic recovery. I'm proud to say that hundreds took part in the webinar to learn more about our path forward - which will rely heavily on retraining our workforce with digital skills.

GSEC also hosted an informative Champions Program that more than 175 people took part in to understand how they can be economic stewards in their community.

Finally, GSEC leadership has sent a letter to Governor Newsom asking him to scrap SB 939 – which will undermine the real estate and banking systems, destabilize the market and threaten economic recovery. It is imperative that we limit additional regulation during the biggest economic downfall since the Great Depression. If you would like to voice your opposition to the bill, please reach out to your state senator.

Thank you,
Barry

GSEC leadership says SB 939 could destabilize market conditions

GSEC leadership opposes SB 939 for its potential to erode business confidence in California and undermine the tax base. The organization has written a letter to the Governor and California State Senators, urging them to scrap the bill that they say will cause severe economic harm to the California economy and impair recovery.
