Free one-on-one technology help is now being offered at Tipp City Public Library, Troy-Miami County Public Library, and Milton-Union Public Library. Guiding Ohio Online is a State Library of Ohio administered competitive LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act) grant. This program seeks to bridge gaps in access to technology and increase digital literacy in rural communities throughout Ohio.

Here Comes Santa Claus
SANTA IS COMING TO THE LIBRARY FOR OUR HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE!

The Tipp City Public Library is so excited that Santa will be back for a visit this year on Tuesday, December 14 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Mark your calendars and bring the whole family to our Holiday Open House. No registration is necessary.

There will be ornaments to make & take, a Holiday “I Spy” Contest in the display case, a photo op by our Christmas Tree, and more! Bring your Wish List to give Santa and your phones or cameras to pose for a picture with Santa.
Library Trustee Position Available
The Board of Trustees of the Tipp City Public Library is accepting resumes to fill a
Board vacancy beginning January 1, 2022. This candidate will fill a term that
ends in 2025.

The Board of Trustees is composed of seven members residing in Miami County.
The Board usually meets on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m.

The duties of the Board include determining the annual budget of the library,
establishing library policies, advocating for the library in the community,
planning for the future of the library, and securing funds needed to operate the
library. Each Trustee takes an oath to perform their duties as defined by the Ohio
Revised Code. Candidates should have a passion for the welfare of the library and in
preserving intellectual freedom. They must have the time and energy to devote
to the library. Trustees are chosen to represent the diversity of the community
including a balance of experience and/or skills in a variety of fields.

Service on the Board of Trustees is voluntary and without compensation for a
term of 7 years. All candidates must be at least eighteen years of age.

Hoopla Bonus Borrows Are Back
Hoopla, one of our free streaming services offered, has returned with their Bonus Borrows program. Back by popular demand, the Bonus Borrows program, available during the month of November, offers zero borrows from your monthly borrows when selecting from the Bonus Borrow collection. There are several new and exciting titles available, with over 1,000 titles to choose from in audiobooks, eBooks, comics and film. Dayton Literary Peace Prize Gala
Tipp City Public Library staff joined students, a high school teacher, and a Tippecanoe Educational Endowment representative in Dayton Literary Peace Prize sponsored events this weekend. Attendees took part in an author panel discussion on Saturday at the Victoria Theater. The highlight of the evening was listening to Gloria Steinem interview Margaret Atwood. Both women are DLPP Holbrooke Distinguished Achievement Award winners. On Sunday, attendees celebrated the 2020 and 2021 award winners at the Schuster Performing Arts Center. The Library thanks the Dayton Literary Peace Prize and our anonymous donors who made these incredible events available to our community. The Library also thanks our supporters, funders, staff, teachers, and everyone else who made all of the Homegoing events possible.
Get Ready for TCPL's First Annual Craft Swap

A reminder that the craft swap is this week! If you have old craft supplies you wish to donate, please bring them by Friday, November 19th! Then, on November 20th, everyone is welcome to come to the library and take what they need! You do not have to donate to participate in the swap!!
Events Planned for the Whole Family
Kids Contest
Can you guess how many feathers are in our plastic turkey? Make a guess between Nov. 15-24 in the Children’s area. The person who comes closest, without going over, will win a gift bag on Nov. 29.
Turkey Activity in the Creativity Corner
Stop in the library during the beginning of November and fill out a turkey feather in the Creative Corner to tell us what you are thankful for this Thanksgiving. Then we’ll add your feather to the giant turkey we’re creating in the Children’s area. Come and see our turkey grow feathers!
November Art Spark
Join Miss Julie at the library each month during the school year to explore different artists and styles of art. You don’t have to be a skilled artist to enjoy these projects, just express yourself.  
On November 18 from 4:00-5:00 PM, Miss Julie will show you how to create a “Colorful Village” picture using markers and watercolor paint.

This program is open to children in grades 3 - 8. Registration is required and begins on November 1. Go to the Children's Programs webpage to register or call the library at 937-667-3826 Ext. 3 for assistance in registering.  
Family Night-We'll Be Flying High
Families with children from preschool-age through Grade 3 are invited to attend two Family Nights per month. Parents and guardians will be actively involved with their children in activities that help parents learn how to challenge children. Here’s what’s coming up:
Tuesday, November 30 from 6:30-7:30 p.m we’ll learn more about flight and flying. As National Aviation History Month comes to a close, participants will make flying contraptions, experiment with our wind tunnel, and learn more about flight. No registration is required, just stop in the Meeting Room on the lower level.

Teen Movie Night
The teen movie party is being rescheduled so we can have a teen movie extravaganza in December! With the help of our Teen Advisory Board, we are planning an awesome event. There will be a movie, snacks, games, and crafts! More details soon to come.
Teen Space Gets Refresh
You may have noticed some changes in the teen space! Thank you to a generous grant from the Tipp Foundation, you will find new beanbags, charging stations, lap desks, and more! Come and hang out in YOUR space, spend time with friends, study, and browse our teen collection! Thank you again to the Tipp Foundation.
December DIY Ornament Kits
Teens can register for a December DIY ornament kit! Please sign up by November 26th to pick up kits starting December 1st. If you are the parent or guardian of a teen as well as younger children, you are welcome to sign up multiple children so they can do this activity together! Sign up here.
