Merchandise Update
The fifth and final poster in the series leading up to the 50th event has been released! This poster, titled “Rising to 50 years” tells the ending to the story that began in 2018 with Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner. After a four-poster chase, the duo is ready to enjoy Balloon Fiesta in a balloon ride of their own. But, if you look closely, things may not work out as planned for Wile E. Coyote. This poster features a number of loveable Looney Tunes characters and is now available at Balloon Fiesta’s Gift Shop, located at 4401 Alameda Boulevard NE, Albuquerque, NM or online at balloonfiestastuff.com. July in Ballooning
On July 3, 2002, Steve Fossett became the first person to fly around the world, nonstop, by himself, in any type of aircraft. Fossett took flight in Northam, Australia on June 19, 2022 and landed in Queensland, Australia on July 3. During this trip, he flew for a total of 320 hours and 33 minutes, setting the duration world record for AM-14 type balloons and the world record for the shortest time around the world. His duration world record is still upheld today. Read more in this CNN article: http://www.cnn.com/2002/WORLD/asiapcf/auspac/07/03/profile.fosset/index.html
