The Glades Initiative Pantry of Choice Hours
We hope that the flexibility of our new “Pantry of Choice” hours helps us to serve you better. You may come to shop in the pantry once per week at any time during open hours. In a “Pantry of Choice”, you choose the foods that you want and need (within guidelines)! Food will no longer be distributed outside.
Required to participate:
• Valid ID or your Glades Initiative Food Pantry ID
• ONE time per week
WHEN: Tuesdays and Wednesdays
- 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. (Tuesday)

PBC Redistricting - Virtual Town Hall Meeting
Please join Monday, November 15th at 5:00 p.m. for information regarding redistricting of the County Commission districts and an overview of the conceptual map that the Board of County Commissioners gave direction to use in the development of a final map. The redistricting process occurs every ten years following the release of Census information.

Grocery Cards Available to PBC residents who qualify through PBC Community Services Department
Eligible Palm Beach County residents must be a household in which at least one or more individuals meets all of the following criteria, including but not limited to:
- Qualifies for unemployment or experienced a reduction of household income, or incurred significant costs, or experienced other financial hardships due to COVID-19;
- Has not received prior Food Assistance from Palm Beach County Community Services Department;
- Had a household income at or below 200% Federal Poverty Guideline (FPG);
- Must be able to provide documentation of the current COVID-19 crisis.
- Applications must be submitted online and will be processed on a first-submitted, first-qualified, first-served basis, subject to funding availability. All requested information must be uploaded prior to submitting your application.

Thanksgiving 2021 Holiday Meals - November 18 Student Meal Distribution
In order to support the children during Thanksgiving Break, the School Food Service Department will be distributing meals at no cost on Thursday, November 18th at a select number of locations. The distribution will consist of the equivalent of nine (9) meals and nine (9) snacks.

Palm Beach County Food Finder Map
An interactive tool using Google Maps to help people easily locate free food and hot meals in Palm Beach County. This online tool was created to connect individuals seeking food resources to sites near them. Information is English, Spanish, and Creole. United Way updates the information listed on this map weekly. However, locations and hours of distribution may change. Please consider calling the site prior to visiting to verify the information listed. Please note that sites may have specific requirements such as ID.

Community Foundation Scholarship Applications are now Open
Do you know a graduating high school senior or current undergraduate student from Palm Beach or Martin County? Do they plan on attending a college, university, trade, or vocational school? Share the Community Foundation's scholarship opportunity with them! In the 2020-2021 scholarship cycle, the Community Foundation awarded over $1 million dollars to 107 local students. Once a student completes our general scholarship application, they are automatically considered for over 110 scholarship funds! Application deadline is Jan. 31, 2022.

PBC Youth Services Summer Camp Scholarship Program
The Summer Camp Scholarship Program provides full-tuition and fees for summer camp for children residing in families with income at or below 150% of Federal Poverty Guidelines. It allows parents to work with the knowledge that their children are safe. It gives children educational and recreational opportunities for growth. Parents may choose from participating camps in Palm Beach County.

Study seeks adults 18 years and older who experience anxiety and/or depression to examine two online adaptations of a brief version of a treatment called the Unified Protocol. The Unified Protocol is an evidence-based treatment for anxiety, depression, and other emotional problems.

During this event, we remembered the more than 140 Glades residents who have died from the virus. We also recognized the nearly 6000 residents who contracted COVID, many of whom are still dealing with lingering effects."

If you or people you know need masks, The Glades Initiative has masks and will share them with anyone in the Glades who needs them. These are the white two-ply reusable washable masks given by the health department. Call or come by to pick them up as long as supplies last.
If you are with a group of vulnerable people and need more than 20, call us first and we will do our best to help you get what you need.

GRANT OPPORTUNITY: Hunger Relief Food Storage Capacity Grant Now Open
In accordance with the Hunger Relief Plan, the Food Storage Capacity Grant aims to minimize food waste by increasing storage capacity of food pantries and other non-profit organizations that address food insecurity. The extra storage space will enable the recipient agencies to provide a consistent supply of perishable items, including produce, to a greater number of Palm Beach County residents.

Panther Empowerment Resource Center Helps PBSC Students
The mission of the Panther Empowerment Resource Center is to: improve the retention, persistence, and graduation rates of financially unstable first generation, low-income students, primarily at the Lake Worth and Belle Glade campuses. Students experiencing difficulties that include, but are not limited to: food insecurity, homelessness, debt, and transportation problems through simplified access to community resources and personalized financial planning.
