WA Clean Buildings Act:
Taking Early Action to Minimize Capital Costs and Understand the New Law

March 17th, 2021 | 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Via ZOOM
The Clean Buildings for Washington Act (HB-1257) requires facilities state-wide to meet energy targets or make significant investments to improve performance. Facility managers who wait to take action may miss out on opportunities to avoid forced capital projects and receive free funding from the Department of Commerce. Chris Olmsted will cover what you can do today to lower your risk of forced capital projects, budget for compliance, avoid future fines of $1/sq ft, and get grant money for your building before the July 1, 2021 deadline.

Seattle IFMA Workplace Excellence Committee
Each of us across our Greater Seattle Chapter bring value to some part of the fabric of Facilities Management - a terrifically dynamic, ever evolving and changing body of work requiring dedication to management, innovation, and transformation of the built environment. The very nature of the facility work environment drives the need for adapting and creating an interconnected, standardized framework of new technology and business process such that your business objectives may be realized…and exceeded, from the customer’s perspective.

Morphing the topics of people, work and place requires a unique ability to connect the worlds of organizational thinking, workplace strategy, business needs, workplace design, technology, supplier partnerships and change management. Welcome to the Workplace Excellence (‘WE') Committee. WE provide a forum for engaging, promoting and sharing a common interest about the many changing workplace experiences.

The core goals of the Workplace Excellence Committee are 1) to promote knowledge transfer and industry best practices from around the chapter, 2) to stimulate workplace innovation and drive the application of technology for the evolving role of an FM, and 3) to open a forum for new ideas about the transformation and modernization of FM into successful outcomes for our organizations. Anyone may contribute, everyone is welcome to join in the conversations!

The Seattle WE Committee is currently working to closely align closely with the mission, values and focus areas of IFMA’s Workplace Evolutionaries Community. Join us as we share and promote many beneficial resources and highly-interactive learning and networking opportunities. The Seattle WE Committee aims to partner closely with the chapter’s Education and Program Committees to coordinate and endorse a useful learning library of content, Lunch and Learn activities, and a meaningful calendar of roundtable discussion topics.

2019 Building Performance Reports
Now Online for Benchmarked Buildings
Building-specific performance profiles are now available for 2019 benchmarking data, along with an updated building energy performance map. Building data is accessible online for five years from 2015 to 2019.

The profiles show how well a building performed compared to peers, highlight trends in energy use since 2015, and summarize the building's impact on climate change. Users can also browse the performance map to filter buildings by energy use, building characteristics, or neighborhood.

Search for a building on the map here or download the raw data here.
