By leveraging 35 years of trusted relationships, the San Francisco Interfaith Council (SFIC) is able to provide faith and religious institution leaders with invaluable resources to access critical services for the benefit of their congregants and vulnerable clients. The United Way of the Bay Area (UWBA) is a key partner in the SFIC's important work. This week's Online Briefing for Faith Leaders, hosted by the San Francisco Interfaith Council, will highlight the UWBA's 2-1-1 program, with a special focus on how its disaster response efforts support vulnerable communities during times of crises as Covid-19. 2-1-1 serves communities during and after events such as the COVID-19 pandemic, inclement weather, mass shootings, wildfires and floods. It reinforces the messages emergency officials need to communicate to the public, such as the location of evacuation centers, road closures, safety instructions, social services to assist disaster victims, and more. In preparation for future emergencies, 2-1-1 actively builds relationships with emergency services officials to encourage its inclusion in local emergency response plans. 2-1-1 is a free and easy-to-remember phone number that connects callers with health and human services in their community. It is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in over 150 languages. All calls are confidential.
