This first joy listed below from Jennifer and Jon Ellis was inadvertently omitted from the live streamed service on May 24. Congratulations to both Gwen and Maeve!
From Jennifer and Jon Ellis: It is with great joy that we shared with our daughter Gwen this week her milestone graduation from Edison Middle School, as well as our younger daughter Maeve’s graduation from South Side Elementary. We couldn’t be more proud of their hard work, dedication to achieving good grades, and how they continue to grow with such strength and grace. Our hearts flow over with love and astonishment that we got so lucky to have them in our lives.
From Sam Beshers and Lynn Wiley:
Today (Sunday, May 24th) is our 34th wedding anniversary!
From Marsha Clinard:
After waiting for months, I am finally having a much needed laminectomy on Wednesday. I am both excited and anxious. I am looking forward to being free of pain and able to walk again. Please send good thoughts.
From Alisha Dusty:
My grandmother has entered hospice care. It has been hard for our family not to be able to see her during this time, and I feel sorrow for her not to have support around her in person as she is dying.
From Phyllis Gorfain:
Jordan’s grandparents are joyous to hear his reflections and music, and send congratulations to him and Emma Herzog.
From David Gross:
A great joy. Claudia Gross will NOT be undergoing pituitary surgery this year. After studying the second MRI, her neuro surgeon recommended doing nothing at this time and repeating the MRI study a year from now.
From Jim and Sandy Hannum:
A concern for our brother-in-law, Mick, who struggles for life with covid-19 and underlying health problems. Please keep him, my sister, and our family in your heart.
From Alex Herzog:
What a joy to be your grandparents, Emma! Love, Opa and Oma.
From Ellen Jacobsen:
Sorrow for the diminishing social cohesion surrounding the response to covid and the many groups struggling disproportionally. Joy for a group of 6 scarlet tanangers who joined us for over 2 weeks of eating suet and oranges. Alas, they seem to have moved on yesterday but what joy they brought!
From Paul, Willow, and Xander Kaiser:
Joy and gratitude for the encouragement and support folks have expressed as the search for our family's lost cat, Smokey, continues. When we find him, we will tell him you cared.
From Julie Laut:
I am in mourning for the nearly 100,000 people in the United States who have died from the novel corona virus. I work to hold them and their loved ones in my heart while also finding hope in the new ways of being in community we are building despite the pandemic.
From the Pitcel Family:
Prayers for those in Midland, MI who have lost their homes due to the flooding (from the dam breaking).
From Kathy Richards:
Such good news to read about Sally Fritsche and learn she and her spouse will be joining our UU community in September! Welcome Sally and Miles!
From Catherine Ritchie:
I am deeply saddened by the death of my Dallas friend, author Karen Blumenthal, this past week from a heart attack at age 61. She was a superb writer of nonfiction for young adults and an even better role model who supported my own writing projects through the years with enthusiasm and generosity. My sense of loss is profound.
From Amy Robison:
A year after my father passed away, his sole surviving sibling has also died. RIP Uncle Kenny. Waiting for my grandfather's iris to bloom around Memorial Day for a fitting tribute.
