BOTTOM LINE:
When we pursue peace, we pursue our purpose in God.

Genesis 45:4-5
“4 So Joseph said to his brothers, “Come near to me, please.” And they came near. And he said, “I am your brother, Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt. 5 And now do not be distressed or angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for God sent me before you to preserve life.

Other Scripture referenced in message:
Genesis 45:1-3, 6-8a, 50:20

We arrive this week in the life of Joseph where he finally gets to see God’s purpose for sharing the dream he had as a boy! How often would you imagine that Joseph struggled and wrestled with God on whether that was just a wild dream? Since Joseph was human we know he had doubts. He probably wondered if the tacos he ate that night were to blame. We learned he waited long enough that when his brothers saw him they didn’t notice him. There could be many reasons for this, but one was because he looked different over that amount of time.
The question we have wanted to keep in front of us this is how did Joseph manage to do this? How did he stay faithful? How did he finish so strong? The drum we are beating to answer this question is two beats. 1. God was with Joseph. 2. Joseph was with God.  Both are required!  God has a good reputation at holding up his end of this. So… it is on us! Joseph’s actions this week speak to the molding and re renewing of a mind. His actions exude love and forgiveness at an unimaginable level!
The same is true for us. How often do the and could we exude a love, a forgiveness, kindness, generosity, grace, a gentle answer, or a self control that speaks to the thumb print of Jesus on you. As his followers these moments should be our daily adventure quest. What moments that get thrown at me can I test and prove the work of the Lord in my life?

CONSIDER ASKING FOR CONVERSATION:
-What did you hear tonight?

-Read & Discuss Genesis 45:4-5: How difficult was kindness and forgiveness in Joseph’s moment to confront His brothers?   (Let this be a reality check if possible. This is a supernatural kind of response. Point out also, Joseph is one person. There is a reason His story is included into God’s word. Joseph succeeded in the hard things when many others didn’t. )

-What are some of the ways you think could prepare you for such a moment (big or small)?   (The bottom line here is for us to hold up our end of our relationship with God! When we hang out with Him his way will rub off on us. His thoughts will be contagious to us and through us. He will not change! And it is impossible for us to be with him and not change.)

-Taking this to current/real life: How can be as a family turn to notice the needs around us and allow THIS time to be on major part in BIG Picture of your families lives?    (If is one thing to be in the holding tank for a long time like Joseph was. But being in power was not the only major thing that he did. His decisions along the way speak just as loud as the forgiveness to his brothers. Our story should also be riddled with God moments.)

PARENTS: I pray that your family is able to make much of Jesus through the duration of this wild moment in our lives! I pray you bring God much glory! I pray you get to fully embrace how incredible is feels to be at the center of His will!

As a family… use this time of “distancing” to connect. Thank the people in your lives who are people who will love you well. Call out in you the areas that you need correcting! Pray for them and pray to be able to be that kind of person for someone else… pointing others toward Jesus!

THANK YOU FOR TRUSTING US WITH YOUR STUDENTS. WE PRAY THIS NIGHT AND THIS RESOURCE PROVIDES GREAT CONVERSATION THAT POINTS YOU ALL TOWARD CHRIST!
