DALLAS AFTERSCHOOL NEWS
HELPING OUR PARTNERS RECOVER FROM THE STORM
In the aftermath of the winter storm, three of our partners have experienced major facility damage, several lost computer labs, and many more lost food, snacks and other supplies. Dallas Afterschool is helping by raising funds so programs can reopen, families can return to work, and students can return to learning. Through March 15th, your donation to Dallas Afterschool's Winter Storm Response will be matched dollar for dollar up to $60,000.
Special thanks to The Addy Foundation for providing matching funds!
NATIONAL SEL DAY
Friday, March 26th is national SEL Day! To celebrate the important role of social-emotional learning, Dallas Afterschool is hosting an all-day SEL event including workshops for out-of-school time (OST) staff and engaging activities for students. Sessions are free and are open to non-partners, but registration is required. Check out our staff promo video and join us! #DASdoesSEL
A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO
Christina K. Hanger
It's hard to believe that just a few weeks ago a winter storm hit the Metroplex. As we help our partners recover, we are reminded of the importance of self-care and social-emotional learning (SEL). March 26th marks National SEL Day and to celebrate our team is planning a full day of free programming open to anyone. We hope you will join us!

Until then, thank you for your support of Dallas Afterschool and our afterschool partner programs. We couldn't do this important work without you!
A CRITICAL COMMUNITY CONVERSATION IS HAPPENING IN MARCH
From 4-5pm on Thursday, March 25th, Dallas Afterschool is participating in a Critical Community Conversation on Childcare and COVID-19 hosted by the Dallas Regional Chamber (DRC) and its Young Professionals. Dallas Afterschool's Angelica Portillo will moderate the panel that includes our CEO, Christina Hanger as a panelist.
This event is free to current DRC Young Professionals and just $10 for non-members.
YOUR ADVENTURE STARTS HERE!
Tickets are now on sale for FIELD DAY, our new socially-distanced event that takes participants on an Amazing Race-style scavenger hunt throughout Dallas. On Saturday, May 8th, teams of 2 will complete challenges and visit historical and culturally-significant stops using an interactive phone app for a chance to win up to $1,000 and other incredible prizes.

Registration is $100 per team and includes lunch (via food truck) and t-shirts.
