Getting to Know AJ Todaro
Player Name: AJ Todaro
College Commitment: Binghamton University
High School: Weddington
Position: Attack
Graduating Class: 2020

What other schools did you consider?
Marquette, Holy Cross, VMI, St. Joseph's’ and UMBC.
How did the school you chose separate itself from the others you considered?
I chose Binghamton University because I felt like it was the perfect fit for me academically as well as athletically. It is considered a top 100 school nationally and they play in the America East which is one of the more competitive conferences in college lacrosse.

How would you describe your recruiting process overall?
Overall, I thought the recruiting experience was a lot of fun! Of course it was stressful at times but Coach Flanagan always made sure that even though it was a serious, it should be fun and enjoyable experience because it is something you only get to go through once!

What was your favorite part of the recruiting process?
Committing to Binghamton was my favorite part! After visiting all of the schools and meeting all of the teams and coaching staffs, realizing which one really felt like home to me was truly a special moment!

What opportunities and information assisted you during your recruiting process?
The most helpful thing to me during the recruiting process was having Coach Flanagan as a resource. He is really knowledgeable on everything that goes in to it which was helpful. I also found SportsRecruits to be helpful as I researched schools to find the right place for me.

Did you feel like you had support from the Team 24/7 Staff during your process? If so, how?
Yes! Coach Flanagan, as well as the rest of the Team 24/7 staff, were there every step of the way. They talked me through some of the different options I had and made it a much more manageable experience for me.

What individual or showcase events, if any, did you find the most beneficial during your process?
Maverick Showtime and the tournaments our summer teams went to. We always had coaches on the sidelines watching us from every level so you knew that you were getting great exposure.

What would you tell younger players or parents to help them prepare for the recruiting process?
Everyone has their own recruiting process. Don’t worry about your friends getting offers or looks and don't get caught up in their process. If you’re doing the right thing and playing hard, your time will come.
Coach Flanagan on AJ
AJ is another one of the guys that we have been really lucky to see grow up over the years. He joined us as a kid that loved the game, who's headed off to college as a young man with an incredible work ethic and is a leader on and off the field. He has become a role model to the younger players in our program as well as at Weddington High School.
The first thing that comes to mind with AJ is his skill. I'll always remember a play he made in practice 2-3 years ago. Someone threw him a high pass on the crease and without hesitation, he grabbed the pass out of the air and finished it.... all with one hand on his stick. This was a kid who was a freshman in high school at the time making a play that is extremely difficult and he made it look easy. It was something that he clearly practiced hundreds of times in the backyard. The reason it always sticks out to me is because it is a great example of the type of player and person AJ is. He has spent hours and hours working on his game and you can be confident as a coach that he is going exhaust every ounce of potential he has. When he first joined us, AJ loved to play the quarterback role on offense. He could sit behind the cage and pick a defense apart with great passing and vision. As he matured and worked hard to develop his game, he became one of the best finishers on our team. He never lost the ability to feed but he adapted his game and improved a ton as a finisher because he knew that it would help the team.

With his work ethic and leadership, he is going to be successful in whatever he does and I can't wait to see it at the next level.
