Mayor Richard Irvin pauses to warm up while shoveling an Aurora neighbor's driveaway after a recent snow event. In response to several requests from senior citizens in need, Mayor Irvin will announce today a new volunteer snow shoveling initiative and make a citywide call for volunteers to register. Aurora approves financial relief programs for businesses

The Aurora City Council approved three programs to give financial help to businesses affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The three programs have a total value of about $2.5 million.

In a study of 129 cities in America, the personal finance website, SmartAsset, determined the cities where Black Americans fared best economically. Aurora, the second-largest city in Illinois, ranked at the top of the list.
