Economic Impact Payments
It is very important that we have the CORRECT AMOUNT for all stimulus payments you may have received from the federal government, in order to file an accurate 2020 individual income tax return.
Please furnish proof of the amounts with:
Copies of bank statements with the amounts circled from IRS TREAS, if direct-deposited. The first payment was distributed starting in April 2020, and the second in December 2020 or January 2021.
Copies of the checks if you received them and/or the letter(s) sent out from the White House (technically Notice 1444 and 1444-B).
MARCH 1st is our deadline for submitting all tax information to us for
individuals, trusts, and December year-end C-corporations!
If you miss this deadline, your returns may have to be extended. Please contact your Tax Manager if you have extenuating circumstances or questions.
Gather all your income tax documents to send at the same time, such as Forms W-2, 1095 (Health Insurance), 1099-MISC, 1099-INT (Interest), 1099-NEC (Nonemployee Compensation), and 1099-G (Unemployment Compensation and state tax refund). Remember that, like other compensation, unemployment benefits are taxable.
Clearly separate business and personal transactions!
You should have received your Tax Organizer from our office by now. Even if you don't fill out the entire Organizer, you must fill out the Questionnaire, sign the Engagement Letter, and return both of them to us before we can file your returns.
Please submit your information to us securely, using File Exchange on the Portal whenever possible. Here is a document explaining how to submit information to us.
Remember to go through all Final Action Items on your portal so you don't miss signing any of the required forms or retrieving vouchers for payments due.
Avoid These Scams!
COVID-19 and EIP texts/emails: The IRS does NOT send these. Never disclose bank account information under the guise of receiving another Economic Impact Payment!
Online Romance Schemes: Don't be one of the tens of thousands falling victim to these scams each year. Red flags include requesting money for urgent matters, claiming to live overseas or be in the military, professing love quickly, and attempting to move the conversation to a different site.
STAY SAFE ONLINE!
