Welcome to the Week of October 16, 2020
Families, it is our sincere joy and privilege to work each day with your children. Although providing instruction using two platforms simultaneously presents enormous challenges, seeing your children's genuine inquisitiveness, beautiful recitations of poetry, thoughtful discussions of literature, and more is not only heartwarming, but truly nourishing for our teachers.

Remember to email Ms. Finn no later than October 16 if you would like your distance learner(s) to return to in-person schooling for Quarter 2.

A Closer Look
Important Carline Update
We recently communicated about an upcoming change to our carline procedures. Effective Monday, October 5, the cars which should use the Blue and White Lines will switch. Thank you in advance for your attention to this important change.

PSO Spirit Store Sale!
Our wonderful PSO's brand new Spirit Store is running a storewide sale! Now through 10/13, use the code GREATHEARTSNS20 to receive 20% off your entire order! 5% of your purchase price comes back to Great Hearts Irving as a donation.

ESL Night
Our ESL program is a crucial part of our mission to provide a classical, liberal arts education in pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty. Families of English Language Learners are invited to join us virtually on October 7 from 5 to 6pm.

Parent Support
Our teachers are working incredibly hard to manage both distance learning and on-campus learning. Our amazing PSO wants to make sure we are supporting them and thanking them, and we have many opportunities for you to help us do this! Please take a moment to fill out the Parent Volunteer Survey and Teacher Lounge TLC Sign Up.
2019-2020 Yearbook Update
Unfortunately, our yearbook publisher Lifetouch's initial efforts to print and deliver our books failed to meet up to our standards of quality. We are working with them closely to ensure the best yearbook possible, and thank you for your continued patience.

On the Horizon
Fall Break & Conferences
Fall Break will soon be upon us! There will be no school from October 19 through 23, and as Ms. Finn communicated in her most recent Headmaster Letter, conferences have been cancelled this year in light of the frequent communication already happening between parents and teachers. If you would like to request a special meeting with your child's teacher, you may reach out directly anytime.
Storybook Festival
Good books containing beautiful stories are at the very heart of who we are and the education in truth and virtue we provide. We are thrilled to announce that we will be having our second annual Storybook Festival on October 30! It's time to start thinking about those classic storybook character costumes!

Look forward to more details very soon about our biggest school-wide celebration of the year.
