Bad Weather & Good Friends
Despite our best preparations and intentions, Mother Nature has her way with us.
My January workshops and paining trips to California have always been a respite from the brutality of these Minnesota winters - until this one.
Freezing temps, rain and Santa Anna winds were the order of the week.

In the back of my mind is always the thought that I've made this commitment and spent a good deal of money to make it happen.
I need to get work done, bills to pay, a family to feed.
Every missed day is a missed opportunity, and screaming profanity at the wind doesn't help (much).

Being helpless turns us all into philosophers.
When we are unable to do, we obsess about not doing.
I don't think its good to stay alone in ones head for too long.
This is where sharing an experience can be invaluable.
Having a good friend to lend a timely & much needed bit of perspective, a good laugh or a cold martini can turn the tide of a challenging experience and remind us we are not alone in our struggles.
Often, that's enough to bring a little peace.

This trip reminded me of that.
Thank you John Cosby

Workshops 2017

Mt Kisco, NY 7-Day Studio Workshop
The 'Big Idea'
Creating a Large Studio Painting

Monday, March 13 - Sunday, March 19th, 2017
Joe Paquet_s Studio
This will be my third time teaching this unique class and my second in Mt. Kisco. You will have the opportunity to implement a workable strategy for approaching a large work successfully indoors. Daily lectures will take you from concept to finish while making sound, personal choices.

This course has proved to be enormously effective.

All individuality and personality in a work of art comes from Subjective Choice Making -- not merely copying what is before us.

You will have seven days to work out those choices while creating a large painting in the studio -- unhurried and thoughtful.
We will be utilizing reference material (Field sketches, Drawings and/or Photos) and will deal with Composition, Distillation & Integration of Forms and Clarifying your personal vision.

You can expect frequent lectures, demos when necessary and a great deal of personal attention.
This is your chance to dig deep and expand your possibilities.

Enrollment is limited so don't wait to secure a spot.
All levels Welcome.
