The sprawling limbs of a live oak tree are what drew Mary Anderson to relocate to St. Simons 22 years ago and open Anderson Fine Art Gallery . Mary was moving from Michigan with the intention of opening her gallery in either Charleston, Savannah, or St. Simons. These southern, coastal cities are home to some of the most magnificent live oaks in the nation, but when Mary came to visit St. Simons, with her relocation looming, she felt that the island’s oak trees were opening their arms to her.

“The welcoming oaks gave me a feeling of stability, healing, and permanence…it was as if they enfolded me
and I knew I was home.”
--Mary Anderson

Anderson Fine Art Gallery has become a destination for the finest in original paintings. The gallery represents an outstanding group of professional artists and emerging artists with a selection of landscapes, still life, figurative, interiors and sculpture.
For the past 12 years the Anderson Fine Art Gallery has also sponsored Painting Workshops taught by nationally recognized artists. The workshops are open to artists of all levels who paint in various mediums and who travel year-round from around the country for the opportunity to study and further develop their painting skills.  In addition, lecturers and attendees support local hotels, restaurants, and the Land Trust during their island visits.

After being closed for a few weeks because of the pandemic, the gallery has re-opened to the public and for private appointments.  “Fortunately, we have been pretty busy,” said Mary, “There is nothing better than adding a beautiful painting to your home, especially now that we are spending so much more of our time at home."
In addition to providing quality paintings and workshops to the community and being a member of the Land Trust’s 1% for St. Simons Program since 2019, the gallery has supported many of our non-profit organizations through advertising and donated paintings. This year, Anderson Fine Art Gallery was a Special Event Sponsor for the Land Trust's Live Oak Society Reception and donated an original painting of a Roseate Spoonbill by Sherry Egger (left).

“Our clients love donating to the Land Trust’s 1% program.
Where might we be without the Land Trust?
They protect the scenic beauty of our island that our artists and students love to paint. We are very lucky to be representing artists
that appreciate and capture the beauty of our marshes, beaches,
and especially the Live Oaks with Spanish Moss."
