Build for the Future Executive Committee:
The committee met recently and received updates from Zach Snethen, HTK architect on the three construction projects that are currently being developed (EHS, Walnut, and the Early Learning Center). The committee discussed storm shelter options for EHS, floor elevations and food service delivery for Walnut, and appropriately sized space and funding for the Early Learning Center.

There will also be opportunities for local trade partners to learn more information about the upcoming construction projects.  Interested companies are invited to attend an informational meeting on March 18th at 4:00 pm at Emporia High School hosted by McCownGordon Construction.  Any questions should be directed to Charlie Ochs, Project Estimator, at  [email protected] or 785-789-3100.

Cost Comparison for RecExtra:
Rob Schieb, Assistant Superintendent of Business provided a cost comparison to the board for the districts' afterschool care program, RecExtra. The report compared the current cost of RecExtra and what the cost to the district would look like if there were to be a change in fees. Approximately 767 elementary students participate in the program in the districts six elementary schools. The board members also discussed the possibilities of restructuring the fees and extending afterschool opportunities to include additional academic support for students.  Cost comparison
