News Release October 2, 2020

The Monroe County School District continues to monitor the health and well-being of its children and staff and to make it the top priority. School officials constantly work in close contact with public health officials to ensure everyone's safety.
On Friday, October 2, school officials were informed that a staff member at T. G. Scott Elementary School has been diagnosed with Covid-19. Due to the nature of their job, the individual had little direct contact with staff and students. The school has followed pre-established protocols and has worked with the Department of Public Health (DPH) in determining that only the affected staff member will need to isolate.
Superintendent Dr. Mike Hickman reiterated that school staff members have planned for and prepared well to handle these situations.  "We continue to closely follow the guidance of our local and regional public health officials," said Dr. Hickman. "Our first and primary goal is and always will be to maintain the safety and health of our students and our staff, along with their families."
