Picture Day

Pic Day

Picture Day(s) are next week at CHS in the auditorium and will follow the schedule below:
  • Tuesday, February 9th - Picture Day for hybrid students (Last names A-K) starting at 8 AM
  • Wednesday, February 10th - Picture Day for ALL VIRTUAL STUDENTS from 12:30-7:00 PM
  • Thursday, February 11th - Picture Day for hybrid students (Last names L-Z) starting at 8 AM
It is important to note that virtual students and their families must fill out the daily health screening before coming to their assigned appointment. Parents can locate this health screening on the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Once taken and submitted, students must access their personal PowerSchool account and pull up the "daily health screening status" on their phones and present that to a faculty or staff member. One of our faculty/staff members can verify the survey was taken if the student cannot access this, so it is important to have this survey filled out either way.
If you still need to schedule an appointment with Barksdale,
please use the following link to do so: https://www.appointment.com/customer/calendar.php?y=2021&m=02&pid=72706  You may also contact Barksdale Photography's Customer Service Center at 800-220-7667 for further assistance if necessary.

*Mandated Annual Health Screening by the Nurse
Virtual students will also be able to complete the mandatory regular height, weight, vision and hearing (11th grade) health screening that is usually completed the first week of school during their assigned Picture Day appointment. District Nurses will be holding the screening in the main lobby after the student's assigned Picture Day appointment. Students will be able to complete their screening quickly while maintaining the social distancing requirements and safety standards. If you do not wish for your child to complete the mandatory height, weight, vision or hearing (11th grade) health screening, please email Mrs. Kim Meade, CHS Nurse at Meadek@tesd.net.

Hybrid students who have not completed the mandatory regular height, weight, vision and hearing (11th grade) health screening will have the option to complete their screening on their assigned Picture Day. This screening will take place in the Main Lobby and will be accessible to students as they complete their assigned Picture Day appointment. If you do not wish your child to complete the mandatory height, weight, vision or hearing (11th grade) health screening, please email Mrs. Kim Meade, CHS Nurse at Meadek@tesd.net.

Senior Internship Program

The Senior Internship Program offers seniors in good standing an opportunity to explore an area of career or academic interest during the last month before graduation. The Senior Internship dates this year are May 10th through June 4th.

Due to the uncertainty caused by Covid-19, the Senior Internship Program will look very different this year. We continue to ask our long-standing Internship Community Sponsors whether they will be able to offer internships this May. Seniors who are not able to secure an internship will remain in school. Our goal is to help the seniors explore many internship opportunities and provide some flexibility as they do that.

Seniors are currently working on finding a Faculty Advisor and drafting a letter of interest to potential internship sponsors. They will receive their Phase II Orientation next week.

All information, materials, deadlines, and communication for the Senior Internship will be available to students through the Senior Internship Course in Schoology. Please encourage your senior to reach out to Mrs. Braun with any questions.

Important Information for 17 Year-Old Seniors
In July of 2016, the PA State Legislature amended the Child Protective Services Law to include employees who work with children through internships, externships and work-study programs. This means that the Community Sponsors of students who are 17 years-old (as of May 10th) must complete the PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI background checks prior to the start of internship.

If you are interested in supporting the program by offering a Conestoga senior an internship, please contact Jeanne Braun.

Questions may be directed to Jeanne Braun, Program Coordinator, at 610-240-1913 or braunj@tesd.net.

Course Selection

Attention all 9th, 10th, & 11th grade families,
Course selection is underway!  Course Selection Night was held on January 28.  To review that evening's Power Points, please visit Conestoga's main page on Schoology.  Counselors presented the same information to all students virtually on Wednesday, February 3rd.  Courses will be selected this year in Power School. A video tutorial will be posted on Schoology in each grade level group that will explain the process. Students will begin meeting with teachers next week so teachers can recommend courses for next year. Once teachers speak with students about courses for next year, families may go into Power School the week of February 22 to make their selections. The window to make these selections closes on Friday, February 26.

Attention Senior Parents!

PHEAA is offering two webinars throughout February - one on Covering the Gap: pieces of the puzzle to pay your bill and a repeat of Understanding the Financial Offer/Award Letters as many students and families are receiving their offers, or have, and want to understand and review options for paying their balances.  Both of these webinars will address those questions.

Attention Sophomores & Juniors!

More than 500 colleges and universities will present more than 1,500 Zoom sessions for high school students through the National Association for College Admissions Counseling. It's a great day to explore, ask questions, and demonstrate interest... all without leaving home.  Check out this website: https://virtualcollegefairs.org/events

SAVE THE DATE!

Attention 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students!
Save the date for Financial Aid Evening: Thursday, March 18th at 7pm.  This event will be virtual.  More information to come!

Junior Conferences

Attention Junior Parents / Guardians:

It is our pleasure to invite you to schedule a post-high school planning conference with your child's counselor sometime this winter or spring. This meeting is an opportunity to discuss your child's goals and high school academic record as we help guide you toward your own individualized post-high school plan. We recommend that parents call the Student Services Office at 610.240.1045 to schedule a conference. These meetings begin on November 30th and dates may be scheduled through the spring. It is helpful to know your student's availability or free period so we can schedule the meeting when your child does not have class. We look forward to meeting with you!

Winter Sports Streaming Live

We are pleased to announce livestreaming for our home winter sports events that take place in the Large Gym. This past weekend we successfully broadcast our Boys Basketball game. Going forward, we will livestream all sporting events in the large gym to provide our families and friends an opportunity to view the game during this unprecedented time. The link to our Hudl/YouTube link is: https://www.tesd.net/Page/16803 . The schedule for our home events can be found at: http://stogapioneers.digitalsports.com/.

Other schools in the Central league are also providing a similar service to their communities. The links to other Central
League streaming events can be found at https://www.tesd.net/Page/16804 . I want to thank the TE School Board and our administration who helped make this viewing option possible. Go 'Stoga!

TESD COVID-19 Dashboard

The dashboard provides a place for the district to communicate with families, students and staff about the COVID-19 cases in our building as well as the metrics for monitoring local data.

Reminder: COVID-19 School Metrics and Guidance

The DOH and PDE guidance for school districts provides an updated process to follow when a case of COVID-19 has been identified in an individual who has been present in a school building. The guidance shifts the threshold for closing school buildings from a countywide community transmission level to a combination of community transmission and school incidence numbers. The DOH and PDE have created a chart that combines county community transmission levels and the number of cases of COVID-19 in a school building during a rolling 14-day period to determine when a school building needs to temporarily transition to 100% virtual instruction. The rolling 14-day period begins on the day that the positive or probable case first started showing symptoms of COVID-19. Once a school reaches a specific number of cases within a rolling 14-day period, the school building will need to close for in-person instruction for a certain number of days. Click here for our new School Closing Metrics and Guidance webpage.*

***VISITORS***

Per our district's safety plan, we are not permitted to have visitors or parents/guardians in the school building. Exceptions will be made for emergency situations. Thank you for your understanding as we begin our reopening plan for hybrid instruction.

A Note from the Attendance Office

During the hybrid model, daily attendance will continue to be taken through homeroom Schoology pages. If your child is scheduled to attend school in person but remains home (and participates virtually), there is no need to send an absence note to the attendance office. If your child is unable to attend school in person or participate virtually, please contact the attendance office at

The Conestoga Key Club is participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Hero Squad to raise funds to find cures for blood cancers and support for patients. This event will take place through February, and students will donate online to their homerooms. Homerooms or students who raise the most amount of money will be eligible for prizes including T-shirts and gift cards.

Please join us in our efforts to help fund lifesaving research. Blood cancers are the third leading cancer killer of Americans. Approximately every three minutes, a person in the U.S. is diagnosed with a blood cancer. And every nine minutes, someone dies from one. Due to the advances made by LLS funded research we've seen an average total decline of 20% in blood cancer death rates since the 1990s. Advances made in blood cancer research are leading to treatments for many cancers and other serious diseases. Approximately 40% of new cancer therapies approved by the FDA since 2000 were first approved for a blood cancer.

During the month of February in particular, help us raise awareness and funds to help us reach the goal of a world without blood cancers.

On behalf of blood cancer patients everywhere, thank you for your caring support. Students can donate to their homeroom via the link below! Scroll down to find their homeroom teacher and donate directly to the teacher page! The link will also be posted in Schoology soon!
