Future chefs in training!
This month, our culinary students finished the first half of their year-long Culinary Training Program and completed their most important module, Guatemalan National Cuisine. This module requires the application of the basic techniques that they have learned over the past few months, as well as an opportunity for students to connect with their roots, local flavors and ancient preparation processes. Even as they progress on to international cuisine in the following module, they will carry with them a bit of local flavor and tradition in everything they cook.

In addition to their culinary training, culinary students are required to learn basic math, English, computer literacy and professional development skills that will improve their future work prospects. Our 8 culinary students are proud of their accomplishments, with a suitcase full of learning that they will have to apply in the coming months and finally face the challenge of successfully completing their internship in a hotel or restaurant at the end of the year.

Parents say "yes" to their children's education
"Parental support is fundamental to the success of our scholarship students, so our program is designed to include them in every step of their son or daughter's academic progress."
- Braulio Cochoy Muz, Scholarship Program Coordinator.

This month, we held the second workshop with more than 30 parents of scholarship students, focusing on how to provide socio-emotional support within their family that will lead to more positive educational outcomes for their children. Since these workshops with parents began, we have seen a 25% increase in attendance. More parents reach out to our program staff to ask about their children's academic performance and seek advice on how to support them better. This is something that did not exist a few years ago, as most parents themselves only completed a few years of primary schooling.

Prioritization of education is changing little by little.
