June is Pride Month!

Colourful Rainbow Pride Month Instagram Story.png

Did you know the first pride was a protest led by 2SLGBTQIA+ people of color?

Pride Month is currently celebrated each year in the month of June to honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, which was a tipping point for the gay liberation movement in the United States.

It's important that we continue to think about the people who have fought and are still fighting for the freedoms of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. At OAESV, we dream of a world where people's identities are uplifted and embraced, and we are committed to supporting the 2SLGBTQIA+ community every day of the year. It is a powerful thing to be seen. 🏳️‍🌈

We want to highlight a few organizations focused on serving the 2SLGBTQIA+ community

June is PTSD Awareness Month!

“Traumatized people chronically feel unsafe inside their bodies: The past is alive in the form of gnawing interior discomfort. Their bodies are constantly bombarded by visceral warning signs, and, in an attempt to control these processes, they often become expert at ignoring their gut feelings and in numbing awareness of what is played out inside. They learn to hide from their selves.”

Bessel van der Kolk, The Body Keeps the Score

Mental Health

As advocates, we know that anyone can develop Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder – not just combat veterans.

According to RAINN, 94% of sexual assault survivors experience PTSD symptoms in the two weeks following the attack, and 30% experience symptoms nine months later.

Although some may have lasting symptoms, we know healing is possible.

Public Policy Interns _Twitter Post_ _1_.png

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)

Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining"!

Bill would require testing of an untold number of rape kits from human trafficking victims in Ohio

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio doesn't have a requirement to test rape kits when investigating human trafficking cases, but a bill in the House would change that.
