Saint Luke's Continues Food Mission with Dodd-Sterling UMC
Thanks to Saint Luke's members Les Woodsides, Bill Womack, Daryl Moore and so many others, 125 boxes of non-perishable items and 125 boxes of perishable items were loaded at Urban Recipe and taken to Dodd-Sterling United Methodist Church for distribution last week. Each family received at least one box of non-perishable items, and one box of perishable food items. Saint Luke's is  humbled and grateful to be in a partnership that is so clearly moved by God to make a difference in meeting the hunger of some and the spiritual hunger of us all.

Claire Cummiskey Named College-Age Summer Intern
Message from Claire:
Before my senior year of college, I really wasn't sure what I was going to do, or even wanted to do after I graduated. I majored in psychology and religion and didn't see a clear path forward. Seminary interested me, but it was when I discovered a dual program through which I could earn a Master of Science in Social Work degree alongside a Master of Divinity degree at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary,  that I realized that was exactly what I wanted to do. I am very excited to begin my studies at APTS this fall and work toward a career in the field of social work. I'm so lucky to call Saint Luke's home, and I am honored and eager to give back while learning throughout this internship. I'm so excited for this opportunity to work for and gain important experience with Saint Luke's this summer!

Adult Sunday Morning Conversations
Join your pastors and adult Sunday school leaders for "TheoED" online conversations at 9:15 am on the following Sundays: June 21 & 28 and July 12 & 19 on Zoom!  Based on TED-style presentations from faith leaders that seek to spark conversations about God, religion, and the power of faith to change lives and communities, we will explore our understanding and practice of the many facets of justice. TheoEd offers a fresh, compelling, and accessible way to go deeper in your own spiritual journey. To join the meeting, click here. PW:1978
Meal Ministry Volunteers Needed
Interested in expanding your involvement at Saint Luke's? The Loving Care committee is looking for volunteers to help with our meal ministry. A simple home cooked meal or one purchased from the deli or a restaurant can mean all the difference in the world to someone who is at home recovering from hospitalization, treatment, an injury or a new baby. Meals are also offered to families suffering the loss of a loved one. Requests are sent out to the group through Sign Up Genius. You can participate as much or as little as you like. Please contact Janis Kilgore, head of Loving Care, via phone (770-454-7972) or email ( kilgore.janis@gmail.com), if you would like to be a member of this important ministry. Thanks for your consideration!

Would you like to help keep our church family connected?
Staying connected to each other has perhaps never been more important. While our Deacons are doing great ministry with their flocks, we know there is more that we, as a church family, can do. We have devised a system to help ensure that our members, particularly those who may need extra encouragement during this time, feel connected as a church family. If you would like to assist in this effort to stay connected, please volunteer on our web site , or contact Shannon Dill, Mary Martin or Cathie Rogers.

Do You Need Assistance?

The Board of Deacons of the church has mobilized care and caregivers for anyone who needs assistance during this time of isolation, like shopping and other errands. Contact Pastor Shannon Dill or Loving Care Committee deacon chair Emily Ritzler  for more information.

Saint Luke's Prayer Connections
One of the best ways we have to be connected together right now is through our prayers! For one another and for those who have named they would like to receive them. Would you like to be added to the Saint Luke's Prayer List, by which you can be guided in prayers for the community and congregation?  If so, please email pastors@slpres.org and  ask to be added to a weekly email distribution list.
Saint Luke's Support for Those in Job Transition
In these difficult economic times, furloughs and layoffs are becoming all too common, and we want to support each other and our neighbors in employment transition. Saint Luke's is so fortunate to have human resources professionals willing to support and network with those who need it.  Jared Elliot (770-262-9601) and Tracy Coffie (404-273-3003) are each willing to help as they are able. And your pastors are, too! Let's support one another and share the burden of these difficult times.
