YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

Our New Junior Board is Ready to Serve

The Wilson Family YMCA Junior Board for 2020-2021 had their first meeting on Sunday, September 27. Take a moment to look at their biography cards located in the front lobby. These exceptional teenagers are motivated to make a difference and take on additional community service projects this year. Be on the lookout for ways you can support their efforts soon.

Let's all rejoice for the month-long group fitness calendar's return!

We are adding back two lunch classes: Body Blast on Tuesdays and Spin on Thursdays, both at 12:10 p.m. with Nancy Stocks.

STRONG CHALLENGE

Sick and tired of feeling sick and tired in these COVID-19 times? The Wilson Family YMCA invites everyone in the community to participate in a free six-week challenge designed to help transform spirit, mind and body.
Six weeks, for 20 minutes a day, five days a week, we'll experiment with challenges and rhythms designed to open us up to a purpose driven life that is STRONG. Take the Challenge, have some fun, and discover what it means to be STRONG. Be on the lookout for more information and registration coming soon.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

VETERANS FOOD DRIVE & FUNDRAISER

Once again we are teaming up with Grapenuts Wine as a drop-off location for their Vino for Our Vets Food Drive and Fundraiser benefiting the Veterans Residential Services of Wilson (VRSW). This private non-profit agency is dedicated to providing quality support and services to area low-income veterans with the goal of residential stability in the community. Please consider donating non-perishable food items that have not expired for our veterans who have given their service to our Country. A donation box will remain in our Front Lobby through November 7th.

This year's silent auction will be online. Donors include: Grapenuts Wine, Casita Brewing Company, Wilson Family YMCA, Jana Lake - State Farm, Erika Thomas - State Farm, Sarah Bowers, Epiphany Wine Co, Empire Distributors, Steve Eudy, and Coastal Posh Boutique. Grapenuts Wine will also be raffling off ONE bottle of Opus One 2015! (A $400 value)All proceeds will go directly to Veterans Residential Services of Wilson. For more information about the food drive, auction, or raffle, visit grapenutswine.com/vinoforvets.

HELPING FEED LOCAL STUDENTS
School Lunch Volunteers
Because not every family can get to one of the 23 public schools during lunchtime, Wilson County Schools is looking for volunteers to drive to a designated location in the community and distribute food students. Volunteers are needed between 11:25 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Monday-Friday on a rotating schedule while remote learning is in place. You do not have to be available the entire time or every day in order to volunteer - even just once would be a tremendous help! For more information, or if you are interested in serving as a volunteer, please contact Gabe Krueger at [email protected].
