The Court Improvement Program’s April Lunch and Learn Series:
Wellness Techniques for Handling Secondary Trauma
Please join us on April 9, 2021 from 12:00-12:50 PM for our monthly Lunch and Learn series designed for abuse and neglect practitioners (but are all welcome)! This month, Whitney Ingram, founder of Moving Mountains Yoga located in Jefferson County, West Virginia, will share the fundamentals of trauma informed yoga and how yoga can assist in the healing of trauma as part of an overall therapeutic plan for both children and adults. Our discussion will specifically focus on how trauma informed yoga can be part of a therapeutic plan for our young clients in juvenile matters. Additionally, we will learn how trauma informed yoga can be helpful as an attorney wellness technique for those practitioners experiencing secondary trauma from their work. The session will include a demonstration of a trauma informed yoga sequence that will resonate with all ages and genders. This session will provide one (1) hour of free CLE ethics credit (attorney wellness). For questions or more information, please contact Kandi Greter (kandi.greter@courtswv.gov).

CLE Announcements
Temporary Waiver of Online and In-house
Continuing Legal Education Credit Limit

Due to ongoing concerns associated with the COVID-19 virus, the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia has granted a request from the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Commission for a temporary waiver of current CLE rules and regulations which limit the CLE credits for online and in-house credits to 12 credits, or half of the mandatory continuing legal education requirements FOR THE 2020-2022 reporting period.

Extension of the Bridge the Gap Requirement
Attorneys admitted to the WV State Bar between July 1, 2018 and December 31, 2020 have been granted a one-year extension of time to complete the mandatory Bridge-the-Gap Program.
The extension was based on a determination by the Court that attorneys within that time frame were adversely affected by the cancellation of the Bridge-the-Gap program scheduled in April 2020 due to COVID.
