Also, the gala offered family meals during the week of the planned event, and 321 meals were purchased along with eight bottles of wine and champagne.  ‘Baptiste’ Cabernet Wine Sales To Benefit CBS
Chris Laiche, a former parent and member of the school’s board of trustees, teamed up with his long-time friend Adam Housley, to produce a special single vineyard cabernet sauvignon that offers a portion of its sales to benefit Christian Brothers School. For many years, they had talked about producing a wine together, and this 2017 Baptiste Reserve Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is the result. The Baptiste cab scored a 92 with the Legacy in a Glass, a highly respected northeast wine review, and the wine offers dark chocolate with cherry and blackberry tones. It is richly textured showing licorice, vanilla bean, dark plum and blueberry hints. Excellently balanced, it finishes with a creamy oak and velvety tannin. The grapes come from 30-year-old vines in the loamy soil of the highly regarded Mokelumne River American Viticultural Area (AVA) and rested 24 months in medium toasted new American oak barrels after 14 days of fermentation. Locally, the wine can be found at retail at Zuppardo’s Economical Supermarkets, Dorignac’s Supermarkets, Canseco’s Supermarket in Metairie and at Elios Wine Warehouse in New Orleans. It’s also offered at numerous restaurants throughout the area. As Chris would say: à votre santé!
