Picture Window, Part Three

Welcome Back to Another BobBlast!
This is part three of Picture Window, a continuation of the last BobBlast and my ongoing Windows Looking In, Windows Looking Out series of paintings. 

I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who has joined the Windows Exhibit FaceBook group and posted their work! I am so full of gratitude, that you have shared your art. 

Remember, the theme is “Windows” - Specifically, with this exhibit I wanted to address the issue of all of us painters feeling isolated. I hope you all post your Window paintings - your vision, and enjoy looking through the gallery of work.

So, back to Picture Window - in parts one and two, you watched me spread gel medium over a 30x30 inch canvas and collage in the areas where I wanted to build a graphic statement for the composition - then I started painting, blocking in the Dominant and Focal Point colors. Using my Goof-Proof Color Wheel, here is the Color Combination: 
• Dominant Color - Blue Green. I use a variety of blue tones.
• Focal Point Color - Red. Again, I use a variety of reds for depth and interest.
• Spice Colors - two of them - Yellow and Purple. 

The Dominant Color is about 80% of your painting footprint. The Focal Point Color is about 10% - focal point is best in one area - you don’t want to have more than one focal point…

This BobBlast demo, part three - starts with the Spice Colors about 5% each - used sparingly around the Focal Point Color for the greatest interest! The Spice Colors exist to kick up the Focal Point Color.

I love the act - the process of painting! So as I am painting the Spice Colors, I am also re-visiting the Focal Point Color and the Dominant Color - working all over the canvas at the same time. My last step is to go back to the CONCEPT - "Picture Window" - with special attention to the contrast of the window light against the dark of the interior.

Whew! Time to let it rest, hang it on the wall and continue to look at it!
