This past weekend we changed our clocks one hour. Fire Chief Henry Hennings reminds city residents that now is a good time to also replace the batteries in your home's fire and smoke detectors.

According to First Alert: "If your smoke alarms are powered by a nine-volt battery, the battery should be replaced every 6 months, while the alarm itself should be replaced once every 10 years."

Be safe by changing their batteries whenever you Spring Forward or Fall Back to have a safer home.
