Corona Virus Awareness at BTSS
I am writing to inform you about our efforts to keep customers and staff healthy and safe during this time of year when many viruses in the community are peaking. Please read this letter carefully and join us in our efforts.

Township info:
Internally, Bloomfield Township personnel have been preparing for the emergence of the Covid-19 virus in southeast Michigan and in particular Bloomfield Township.

Bloomfield Township Senior Services (BTSS) has 300-400 visits each day to the senior center for the many recreational, educational and fitness opportunities offered. We must all recognize the importance of good prevention practices as have been advised for years related to influenza and other illnesses.

We will stay abreast of the situation and will continue to be in close touch with BT Fire Department for directives from the CDC and Oakland County Health Department. We will follow their scientifically sound, evidence-based recommendations.

BTSS Action Plan
BTSS is cleaned daily by American Quality Cleaning (AQC) of Waterford, Michigan. Each night the AQC staff provides a thorough cleaning of the building as well as:
  • Sanitation of the fitness equipment with commercial grade product disinfectants. The cleaning staff spray it on surfaces, tables, light switches, fitness machines and has allows for "sit/dwell time" before they wipe. AQC is licensed and insured to buy and use these concentrated products.
  • AQC staff also sanitize all touch points like door handles, light switches etc. with Clorox wipes.
BTSS Changes to Check In procedures
  • BTSS has changed the daily check in process and patrons now scan their ID badges upon arrival.
  • Open Hours Fitness participant badges are sanitized with alcohol wipes by BTSS staff.
  • BTSS continues to have hand sanitizer and tissue at each reception desk for public use.
For now, we ask that you do the following:
  • Do not visit the Senior Center if you are sick or think you might be sick.
  • Do not visit the Senior Center if you have traveled to any of the countries where the Covid-19 is widespread. Currently these include China, Korea, Italy and Iran.
  • Wash your hands. Wash your hands. Wash your hands.
  • Avoid touching your face, and if you do touch it, wash your hands.
  • Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze; then wash your hands.
  • Avoid shaking hands until the flu, coronavirus and norovirus seasons have passed.
  • Share this information with all potential visitors to the Senior Center.
  • Face masks are meant to be worn by people who are sick. They will not protect you if you are well, and may in fact, increase your risk of becoming sick.
  • Please review the links below for guidance.

Thank you for joining us in our efforts keep our customers safe and healthy.  We don't want to be alarmists, but we do want to take this threat seriously. Our goal is to prevent the introduction of any of these viruses in the center, but we can't do it alone.

Thanks in advance for your attention to this important information.

Sincerely,
Christine Tvaroha, Director
