Marin COVID-19 Update

On Tuesday, February 2nd, Dr. Matt Willis, Marin’s Public Health Officer provided an update to the Marin County Board of Supervisors regarding Marin’s COVID-19 response. Dr. Willis reviewed COVID-19 data, school -based cases, vaccine distribution, and more.

Community Listening Session Regarding the Renaming of Sir Francis Drake Blvd.
Saturday, February 6 at 10am

The Fairfax Town Council will hold a Special Meeting to Convene a Community Listening Session regarding the renaming of Sir Francis Drake Blvd., on Sat. Feb. 6, from 10 am to 12 noon.

Outdoor Seating Area in the Mono Parking Lot is Back

The lower half the Mono Parking Lot will be closed weekly from Wednesday through Sunday. The closed area is will have tables, chairs, and umbrellas for patrons of any downtown restaurant or business to use. The Chamber has teamed up with Gestalt Haus to disinfect the tables and chairs between uses. Customers can still access the Mono Parking Lot from the Bank St. entrance.
Take the Questionnaire Regarding the Restriping of Cascade Drive to Add a Dashed Yellow Center Line in December 2020

You’re invited to participate in a questionnaire on the restriping of Cascade Drive (added dashed yellow center line) that occurred in December 2020, as well as read what other residents are saying, on our on-line Community Forum (run by OpenGov), where you can express your opinion for decision-makers to read. 

The deadline to participate is 11 pm on February 15, 2021.
Temporary Location for Skate Board/Scooter Park for consideration at February 17th Council Meeting
 
At its January 20th meeting, the Town Council received a resident petition to discuss a location for a skate/scooter park. During the discussion, the group broached the idea for a temporary location for the skate/scooter park. The Council indicated it would agendize the consideration of a temporary skate/scooter park location at its February 17th meeting. The residents group is proposing a temporary skate/scooter park in the western section of the Bank Street / Pavilion parking lot (see map below) 

The virtual Town Council meeting on February 17th starts at 6:30pm. The agenda packet for the Council meeting will be available February 12th at www.townoffairfax.org.
Fairfax Rental Assistance Program

The Town Council has established a Residential Rental Assistance Program to assist extremely low-income Fairfax renters whose household incomes were adversely affected by COVID-19.

The program is administered by St.Vincent de Paul and Ritter Center. They will inform applicants of the program requirements. Funds are limited and provided on a first-come, first serve basis. 

If you are in need of assistance, please them call 415-454-3303 X11 to leave a message. Calls will be returned in the order they are received.
County Application Open For Rental Assistance

The County of Marin has created a new phone number and email address to guide residents with requests for financial rental assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic. Anyone needing help paying rent may call (415) 473-2223 or email staff to learn more about the Emergency Rental Assistance Program, which is open for applications now.

Free Covid Testing Options for Ross Valley

The County of Marin has partnered with Curative to offer coronavirus testing by online appointment for anybody, whether insured or not. 

A testing site is open each Tuesday at the United Market parking lot (100 Red Hill Avenue) in San Anselmo from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
 
Online appointments for that testing location and others can be made via Curative.com.

Check the Curative website for other Marin testing locations if Tuesdays are not convenient.

Fairfax Food Pantry

Saturday mornings from 8-10am

The Fairfax Food Pantry continues to be open. Drive through or walk up service is available. In addition to our regular bagged groceries, folks will be receiving 15lb produce boxes as part of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP). 
Neighborhood Response Groups of Fairfax

The Neighborhood Response Group (NRG) program in Fairfax is a grassroots, volunteer-driven initiative designed to assist residents to prepare for, respond to, and recover in the event of an emergency such as a pandemic, major earthquake, flood, or PG&E Public Safety Power Shut-off (PSPS). NRG-Neighborhood Response Groups, led by block captains, create important community ties, with neighbors helping neighbors to ensure no one is overlooked in the event of a disaster.

If you would like to learn more about how neighbors can work together on emergency preparedness and/or if you are interested in becoming a block captain for your neighborhood, visit the NRG page on the website.
The Climate Action Committee Update
 
The Climate Action Committee will have our next to LAST Open Forum on the Climate Action Plan. This Monday, February 8th, from 6:30 – 7:30, we will ZOOM to talk about how to drive down our water and waste emissions.
