Greater Chatham Stronger Together
|
|
The Greater Chatham Initiative supports the peaceful protesters who marched against George Floyd’s murder. We stand in solidarity with you. The injustices and inequities that have plagued our community has gone on far too long. Our community has continually and consistently been under resourced and ignored. In spite of this we continue to prevail and build a highly functional area that has many amenities including bigbox stores, banks, and currency exchanges that serve our 122,000 residents and other city and suburban customers.
Over the last few days, we have witnessed scores of businesses in our communities being vandalized, looted and torched.
It took decades for the community members to recruit and retain these businesses, and in one weekend, our 12-square mile area is now a food desert, a pharmacy desert, and a banking and currency exchange desert.
We are devastated. Our hearts go out to the business owners, property owners, employees, customers and residents who were harmed.
Only a select few of our residents can use online grocery delivery because 44% of our residents don't have access to the internet or online banking and 17% don't have checking or savings accounts.
We are thankful for our residents who took it upon themselves to board and clean up the looted businesses and parking lots. The clean-up continues and the rebuilding begins again.
To volunteer to support the clean-up contact the Chatham Business Association at 773-994-5006.
We want to hear from our Greater Chatham business owners.
- Do you plan to reopen?
- If yes, what do you need to reopen?
- What are the gaps between what you need an what you currently have to reopen?
We will use this information to marshal resources for the community's rebuilding effort. Contact John Handler at (773) 644-1451, ext 103 or email

- By Phone:
How to Transfer a Prescription to Another Pharmacy
- Call or visit the new pharmacy to request an Rx transfer.
- Give the new pharmacy the names of all the medications you want to transfer, along with dosage and Rx numbers.
- Provide your current pharmacy's contact information.
- Wait for the transfer to be completed, allowing at least 1-3 business days.

- A pharmacy does not have to transfer a prescription. Some pharmacies over the years have refused to transfer prescriptions. They legally may do so. Both the original and the transferred prescriptions must be kept on file for two years from the date of the last refill.
Can I refill a prescription at a different pharmacy?
- If you want to just get one prescription filled a a different chain/independent pharmacy, just bring your prescription insurance card and prescription and they can fill it (assuming insurance doesn't bounce it because you're too early.)
