ANNOUNCEMENTS
MONDAY, MARCH 9, 2020
  • Congratulations to members of the Woodland Band who participated in the annual Solo + Ensemble Contest! Out of 76 students who participated in an event, 53 of 70% received the highest possible ranking of a superior rating (1st division) with 23 receiving the second highest possible score of excellent (2nd division). We are so proud of all our students who spent the extra effort to work toward a contest that was optional.
  • Congratulations to the Woodland Archery Team for competing in the State Tournament and placing 15th out of 42 teams in the state. Abby Rhoades and Deacon Snyder were the team's top scorers. Special congratulations to Abby Rhoades for scoring a 282, making her the top female archer in the state! The team increased their score by close to 200 points over their regional score. Congrats on a great season!
  • 8th grade students planning to take Virtual classes at the high school need to bring their forms to the office. Forms must be returned by Tues., March 9 at 8:30 a.m. at the very latest.
  • Tryout/Application/Audition information is now available for students who would like to participate in athletics, yearbook, library aide, etc. for the 2020-2021 school year. This information is posted throughout the school and on our website.

  • UALR will sponsor a summer STEM Program that includes Engineering Scholars Program, National Summer Transportation Institute, Kinco Construction Management Camp, and Windstream Girls Code. These are week long residential camps that are free to attend in June and July. For more info and/or to apply, go to https://ualr.edu/eit/additional-info/outreach/ or google UALR Outreach Programs.
  • 7th Grade Family Literacy Night will be Tues., March 10 from 5:30-7:00 at Woodland. Seventh graders and their families are invited for free pizza dinner, door prizes, student poetry readings, Harlem Renaissance student project presentations, and information about the ACT Aspire and other literacy resources.
  • This Thurs., March 12 the Woodland Band would like to invite you to their 9th annual Spring Fundraiser, ExtravaBANDza. This event will take place in the cafeteria starting at 6:30 p.m. and will feature Woodwind, Brass, and Percussion ensembles. The evening will conclude with performances by the Beginning and Symphonic Bands. While enjoying the fantastic student performances, you will also be treated to a variety of refreshment options as well as a silent auction. Admission is $5 for adults and children 6 and older. Proceeds for the event will support band camp scholarships and continued renovations to the band room.

Congratulations Woodland Math Club

The Woodland Math Club had six students who competed in the State MathCounts competition in Little Rock on Saturday. Alejandra and Laura Avila, Albert Lui, Keming Meng, Maddie Mullins, and Annie Xu all competed as individuals.

Our team made up of Albert Lui, Keming Meng, Maddie Mullins, and Annie Xu received the 1st Place Team Award, and Keming Meng took 6th place in the Individual Competition. We are so proud of everyone who participated!
