Global Health Practitioner Conference:
Health for All Starts in the Community
May 5 - 9, 2014
Silver Spring, MD

Join more than 200 global health practitioners from nearly 100 different organizations for skill building, networking and program learning at CORE Group's Spring 2014 Global Health Practitioner Conference (formerly known as Spring Meeting) this May.

During CORE Group's Community Health Network participatory events, we focus on community health design and implementation, with an emphasis on maternal, newborn and child health.

This spring, we will explore the "Health for All Starts in the Community" theme through the lens of universal health coverage, addressing inequities in the health system, linking the community more effectively with the health system, and capitalizing on the role of civil society organizations.

Every Newborn Action Plan Review
February 12, 2014
Quaker Meeting House, 2111 Florida Avenue NW
Washington, DC

After months of support and deliberation from hundreds of interested groups, the World Health Organization has released a draft  of the Every Newborn Action Plan (ENAP)which seeks to put an end to preventable deaths of mothers and newborns. The draft is online for your organization to review and comment on, and the deadline for input is February 28th.

On Wednesday, February 12th, MCHIP, Save the Children, and CORE Group are hosting a detailed review of the draft. The event will include a discussion about various ways organizations can coordinate on the country level in supporting advances in maternal and newborn health.

Webinar: Introducing the NACS User's Tool
February 12, 2014
10:30 - 11:30 AM

The Food and Nutrition Technical Assistance III Project (FANTA) invites you to join a webinar to introduce the NACS User's Guide, a tool to help program managers and implementers integrate nutrition assessment, counseling, and support into prevention, care, and treatment of infectious diseases such as HIV and TB.

In this webinar, three speakers will present the NACS approach, the rationale for developing the User's Guide, the organization of the modules, and current and planned topics. The presentations will be followed by an opportunity for Q&A on the content and use of the modules.

A Framework for Integrating Childhood Tuberculosis into Community-based Health Care

This framework outlines community-based strategies for integrating childhood TB activities with other maternal and child health care services through existing diagnosis and management algorithms.

The document is written for decision-makers, program managers, and officials at the global policy and national Ministry of Health levels who can (in collaboration with NTPs) make changes to country-specific child health frameworks, and to those in the field who can implement interventions directly.

mHealth Guide for Newborn Health

Thiguide includes case studies from Afghanistan, India, Malawi and Indonesia that address the use of mHealth (mobile health) - mobile and wireless technologies providing health services and information.

Newborn health can be supported by mHealth through referral and tracking of mothers and infants, decision support for CHW, CHW supervision, scheduling and tracking postpartum and postnatal visits, and teaching and counseling for mothers and families, among other uses.

Endorse CHW Principles of Practice

Please take a moment and show your support for the CHW Principles of Practice - guiding principles for non-governmental organizations and their partners for coordinated national scale-up of community health worker programs.

The CHW Principles of Practice aim to guide NGOs to work with existing health structures through strong, long-term partnerships. They address CHW program issues such as competitive and duplicative working strategies, diverse incentives, parallel services, and diversity in supervision and reporting, among others.
