Roslyn Public Schools
SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS
September 29, 2020

Good afternoon Roslyn Families,

The Roslyn School District was notified today that a student at East Hills Elementary School has tested positive for COVID-19.

In order to conduct a deep cleaning, and to facilitate contact tracing efforts in conjunction with the Nassau County Department of Health (DOH), we are suspending in-person classes at East Hills tomorrow, Wednesday, September 30th. All students will switch to a full remote learning schedule. Principal Sherry Ma will be reaching out to you shortly with further instructions.

After learning about this case, our COVID-19 Team immediately issued contact tracing protocols and began working with the Nassau County DOH to identify anyone who may have been in close contact with this individual. You will be notified directly by the district or the Nassau County Health Department if it is determined that your child has had close contact with the positive case.

I encourage anyone who is experiencing symptoms such as cough, difficulty breathing, fever, or loss of taste and smell to promptly contact their physician.

Our school building and our buses will be given a thorough cleaning in preparation for the next day. Be reminded that our protocols were designed to mitigate the risk of positive cases and our priority remains the health and safety of our students.

Further updates will be provided as we learn more information and work with the DOH. Be well.

Sincerely,

Allison Brown
Superintendent of Schools
