Tips on Getting Textbooks
Participate in Archie's Book Bundle and rent textbooks through the USI Campus Store..
  • You're looking to save money - Save 35-50% on the cost of course materials each term
  • You do not plan on using the textbook after completing a course
  • Receive all your course materials before the first day of class
  • Benefit from a highly personalized concierge service
  • Check your USI email for your book list

Things to think about when purchasing course materials
  • The specific textbook will be beneficial in the future (e.g. another class or career)
  • You highlight and/or write extensive notes in your textbooks
  • You wish to start and/or add to your book collection
  • Make sure to know what course material the faculty selected for classes. Different faculty for the same course may use other textbooks.
  • Check the required books with the USI Campus Store before purchasing books from another student. The USI Campus Store has textbook information for each course.
  • Sometimes books change from year to year. Check the ISBN number for the correct year and edition of the book.
  • In some cases, purchasing the book with the access code may be cheaper than online access only. Check to make sure the access code is needed.
Campus Technology
WiFi
Secure wifi is available across USI's campus. However, wifi is not as reliable as a wired connection and USI recommends NOT taking a test on wifi. Students, please do not bring other wifi devices on campus such as wifi printers or hot spots – these cause interference with the campus wifi and degrade the service for everyone.
Printing
USI provides a per-page-fee-printing system. Students must have FLEX Money on their Eagle Access Card. Students can pickup their print job from any lab or library printer regardless of where they printed from.
Software
Microsoft Office 365
The University has subscribed to Office 365 to provide students and employees with a free copy of the Microsoft Office suite, which students can use on up to five devices. Your subscription will remain valid as long as you are a student or employed at the University of Southern Indiana.
Computers on Campus
USI provides many computing options for students including open labs and college specific labs across campus, Rice Library and the Recreational Fitness and Wellness Center. At Rice Library there are PC and Mac laptops and iPads available for loan. Or students can bring their own PC or Mac computers or laptops to campus (tablets are good for many things but should not be considered a full replacement for a computer).
Using Blackboard
Blackboard is a course management system used by USI faculty and students. Students can access course materials their professors make available and participate in class discussions online. To access and learn more about Blackboard, click below. Please note that some courses may not be available until the first week of class.
Information Technology (IT)
The USI Information Technology (IT) department has a help desk that includes phone, email, on-line and walk-in computer support for all students, faculty, and staff at the University of Southern Indiana.

Computer Help Desk: If you are experiencing problems with your computer, you can schedule an appointment and bring it to the IT Help Desk. The Help Desk can assist with virus and spyware removal and hardware diagnostics. For best service, please call to schedule an appointment. Although this is a free service for current USI students, it is not a drop off service.

Screagle in the Spotlight - Madison S.
Hey everyone! This is my first year as an Orientation Leader. I started my freshman year in Emerging Leaders, where I learned many leadership and communication skills. Outside of being an Orientation Leader, I became an Emerging Leaders Mentor and a Welcome Week leader to help guide new and transitioning students here at USI. I am also a part of the Riley Dance Marathon Committee.

Additionally, I am a student worker at the Recreation Fitness and Wellness Center while I further my education and seek a future career in a healthcare facility. Aside from school, I love hiking, shopping, getting coffee with friends, going to the zoo, and traveling. I also love learning how to get involved and give back to my community and those who have greatly impacted my life. I can't wait to see all of your amazing faces here at USI soon, Go Screagles!
