Greetings Parents,

I am writing to inform you that an HDS family may have had indirect contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. Out of consideration for our community, they have agreed to stay home from school this week.

Prevention of the spread of this virus and all illnesses is key to keeping our community healthy. Today, the school nurse and division heads met with students to reassure them that the adults in their lives are doing everything possible to keep them healthy. Students were reminded of the universal precautions to reduce the spread of illness--hand washing, keeping hands away from one's face, and not touching others.

Given how rapidly the coronavirus situation is changing, please know adjustments are likely based on the evolving guidelines from a multitude of health organizations, including partnerships with the Association of Independent Maryland and DC Schools (AIMS) and our local health department officials. We will be meeting with our teachers tomorrow afternoon to discuss distance learning plans, and we will keep you informed as to next steps.

Should you have any health questions, please feel free to reach out to the School Nurse, Beth Muller-Hinder [email protected] or 410-809-2407. All other questions can be directed to me at [email protected].

Susan Kearney
Head of School
