Dear Parents,
If there was ever a time to ask the question, “how are you doing?" it is now. I mean seriously, how are you doing?
Our lives have been turned upside down this past month. It’s likely that you have your student under your roof again. I keep coming back to the realization that in this life, we do not have control. While many people around us are fearful, we as a Christ-followers are called into action for such a time as this.
Philippians 4:6 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Paul is in prison when he writes this and reminds us that we are to be thankful, and not anxious. You might feel like your confinement these past days feels somewhat like a prison, but despite our current circumstances, we have hope.
What the world needs most right now is that message of hope and this is our time to point others to the source of that hope. We need not fear, although uncertainty may be at an all-time high. While UNW students are now in a virtual learning environment, they are continuing to develop into leaders who will take this message of hope into their homes, churches, workplaces, and the world for such a time as this.
Finally, please know that our leadership is prayerfully doing all they can to care for our students, faculty, and staff. Please pray for UNW students as they face new challenges and uncertainty looking towards the future. The financial needs are great, but we serve a big God. I am including a video from Dr. Cureton that I hope will offer you encouragement.

In this unprecedented time in the history of the world God created, remember that He is still in charge. We can rest, knowing that He cares more about us, our families, and the Christian community that is the University of Northwestern, than we could fathom. We can honor Him by refusing to react out of fear. Rather, we can peacefully pursue our part while we trust Him to do His.

Since the COVID-19 outbreak, UNW has moved all operations online for the remainder of the spring semester. Career Development has been putting together a variety of virtual resources for students:
- Several online resources (Careers by major, resumes, mock interviews, and networking tips, next steps for graduate school, job board, virtual events, and more.)
- Weekly webinars (Resume/Cover Letter Basics, Job Search Basics, LinkedIn Profile & Networking: The Essentials, etc.)
- One-on-one career coaching by phone or through Zoom video (Personal discovery and self-assessments, choosing a major/career path, graduate school assistance, job search strategies, resume reviews, interview preparation, and more.)
Please encourage your students to review their email and incorporate our weekly webinars into their schedules. This is also a great time for them to research various career paths and network with family members. Whether your student is in their first or last year of college, it’s always the right time to connect with our office. Our career coaches have a strong desire to come alongside students, help them explore their God-given design, and share various resources to help them succeed in accomplishing their goals.

Although COVID-19 prevents us from being able to meet with families face-to-face, the Financial Aid Office is available to help answer any questions related to financial aid. Academic Achievement will continue to equip all UNW students for academic success by transitioning to offering our quality resources in an online format at this time. This includes Disability Services appointments and accommodations, the Writing Center (ALPHA) for writing tutoring, Academic Coaching appointments and Subject Tutoring. Peter Pan, A Musical Adventure
RESCHEDULED
University of Northwestern – St. Paul and UNW Theatre are taking every precaution to ensure the health and safety of our guests, students, faculty, and staff. For that reason, we are postponing UNW Theatre’s production of Peter Pan: A Musical Adventure until October 29-November 14, 2020. Please consider whether you prefer exchanging your tickets for the Fall dates, receiving a refund for your tickets, or donating your tickets as a gift to the theatre program.
