This webinar will cover the importance of, and opportunities for, maintaining trauma-informed connections with patients using telehealth during the COVID-19 emergency.

The physician speakers will share opportunities and guidance for providing trauma-informed care via telehealth as well as resources providers can offer to patients to help mitigate the impact of COVID-19 related stress on physical and mental health. This is particularly critical for patients who have experienced, or who are currently experiencing, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) or other adversities. Futures Without Violence will share resources providers can offer to patients who are experiencing domestic violence.

This is the third in a series of monthly educational webinars that offer practical information for primary care and behavioral health providers on providing trauma-informed care.

Join us for a webinar series, Minimizing Disruptions in Care Through the Use of Behavioral Telehealth. The aim of this 11-week webinar series is to consolidate learning from the quick transition to behavioral telehealth services in response to COVID 19. The webinars will teach practical skills to support ongoing improvement of behavioral telehealth. This series is sponsored by the California Health Care Foundation (CHCF). It is tailored for mental health and substance use providers as well as their supervisors.

Topics will include:

Ensuring Success in Telehealth: What Staff Need to Know
(April 29, 10:00 A.M. - 11:30 A.M.)
Increase participants’ ability to ready their environment for telehealth and engage effectively to maintain focus on client’s immediate needs and long-term goals. The webinar also features strategies to normalize common reactions to behavioral telehealth

Empathic Communication and Engagement 
(May 6, 10:00 A.M. - 11:30 A.M.)
Offer participants’ an overview of practical tips and strategies to create a virtual experience that is warm, relational, empathic, engages clients, and promotes connection and access to care.

Virtual Assessment and Developing the Client Plan 
(May 13, 10:00 A.M - 11:30 A.M.)
Improve participants’ skills in conducting assessments and developing client plans in a virtual setting that maintain a focus on the needs of clients while also meeting compliance and billing requirements.
