Diaper Drive for Iglesia Presbiteriana Emanuel
A letter from Riley Meath

Hello WPC! I have been assigned by my teacher at Voyager Academy High School to come up with an event to help those in our community less fortunate than us. I had an idea and need your support. While volunteering at the weekly Wednesday food distribution at Iglesia Presbiteriana Emanuel, I have noticed many cars with babies and young children and wondered if these families could benefit from receiving free diapers. I contacted Alex, Cherrie, and Pastor Julio, and they thought a diaper drive was a great idea! So I have planned one to be held during the car line at Iglesia Emanuel on Wednesday, March 10. I realize these are hard times for everyone, but please consider donating a small pack of diapers to help these families. There are a couple of ways you can contribute:

Thank you in advance for your consideration and your support!
A Conversation about Silence, Prayer, and Grief

How does prayer help when things get tough? Join Alex on Zoom on Tuesday, February 9, at 6:00pm for “Hard Times Ain't Gonna Rule My Mind” to tackle that looming question. We'll consider together how prayer works, and Alex will share about his recent silent retreat at a Trappist Monastery in South Carolina. This conversation isn't limited to youth – adults are encouraged to take part, too! RSVP here to receive the meeting link.
Update on Westminster’s 2020 Christmas Offering
From Spencer Leslie, Local Missions Committee

We want to thank you all for giving generously to our 2020 Christmas Offering and supporting Iglesia Presbiteriana Emanuel! As a church, we gave $26,091.66, a 20% increase from last year's Christmas offering! This is huge, as Iglesia Emanuel's food ministry has grown enormously over the past six months. In just the last three months of 2020, the Wednesday afternoon food giveaway provided groceries to 6,592 households or 26,368 individuals facing food insecurity in our area. Our donations amounted to $1 for every household served in the final quarter of 2020. How's that for a little serendipitous grace? We are so thankful that we as a community are supporting this ministry in such a committed way.
From the Congregational Care Team: Calling All Young Adults!

Are you a young adult age 18-22? Are you the parent, grandparent, or friend of one of our young adults aged 18-22? Westminster’s Congregational Care Team would love to reach out in support with a care package to these members. Because this is a time in life when many young adults' contact information can change fairly often, we need your help.  Please let us know your – or your loved one’s – current mailing address by emailing westminster@wpcdurham.org.  Also, if you can update your/their email so we can send them occasional emails, and update mobile numbers for the WPC directory at the same time, that would be most appreciated. Thanks for your help!
Thanks from Families Moving Forward

Thank you, thank you to everyone who bought a stocking and filled it with gifts, candy, and treats for the children at Families Moving Forward. You made their Christmas a little brighter, and the stockings were much appreciated. Read a thank-you letter from FMF director Ryan Fehrman. Also, a big thank-you to all who made blankets and delivered them to FMF. There is a big need for blankets and comforters, and your generosity is greatly appreciated. Westminster is a caring and giving community and always steps up.
