“
March came in like a lion and went out like a lamb...”
We often get the question, “why sheep?” While sheep often get denigrated for being “stupid” and find themselves (and those who work with them) the butt of endless inappropriate jokes, sheep are actually quite therapeutic. What is a more ancient symbol of pastoral peace than sheep grazing in a pasture? What is a more archetypal or poignant image of innocence than the lamb?
COVR Founder Alison Perry’s original vision was
“a sheep ranch out east where veterans could work on the land, sleep under the stars, and be in a community of other veterans.”
Thirteen years later, Founder Perry’s initial spark of a vision has come true to life at Central Oregon Veterans Ranch.
This month COVR received its newest team member and fifth therapy sheep, Rosie, whose Ranch nickname quickly preceded her delivery: “Rosie the Riveter.”
