CONGREGATION
TIFERETH ISRAEL
HIRES FOUR NEW CLERGY
|
|
|
In response to the growing needs of the congregation, the board has voted unanimously to hire four new rabbis, whose contracts will take effect on the evening of March 9th. We are thrilled by the wisdom and skill they bring with them, and can’t wait for the congregation to get to know them!
|
|
Rabbi Ezra Braver
Born in Portsmouth, Ohio, in October of 2019, Rabbi Ezra brings with him a wealth of experience far beyond his four months of life. Rabbi Ezra loves working with kids, and will take over leadership of our Boker Tov programming for young families. Please be patient, as he may need to take frequent breaks for bottles and diaper changes.
|
|
Rabbi Hadar Skolnik
A native of Central Florida, Rabbi Hadar lights up a room with her joyful love of Jewish life. She will be coordinating our morning and evening weekday minyan services. Please note that service times will change so as not to conflict with her JCC Preschool drop-off and pickup schedule. Tiaras and crowns will be available with advanced notice.
|
|
Rabbi Liav
Skolnik
Also from Central Florida, Rabbi Liav plans to add his excitement and energy to the Tifereth Israel clergy team. He will be supervising the
kashrut of our kitchen, and ensuring that our candy supplies never run too low. All future kiddushes will be fleishig unless ice cream is specifically requested.
|
|
Rabbi Dafna
Skolnik
Hailing from New York City, Rabbi Dafna is expected to graduate from Columbus Jewish Day School this spring. She’ll be joining the team as our new B’nei Mitzvah coordinator. Unfortunately, all b’nei mitzvah between now and her own bat mitzvah in the spring of 2022 will need to be put on hold for her to finish her training.
|
|
Please welcome our new rabbis the next time you see them!

In case you couldn’t tell, this is a little joke for Purim!
We hope you enjoyed it, but the rest of the information below is the real deal.
Chag Sameach,
Rabbi Hillel Skolnik, Rabbi Alex Braver, and Cantor Jack Chomsky
Megillah
It’s a mitzvah to hear the chanting of the Purim story by reading the Book of Esther, so make sure you come to hear the whole megillah, from the courageous Esther to the wicked Haman (boo!). Check out our schedule of services below, and come in costume!
Matanot L’evyonim: Charitable Gifts for the Poor
This mitzvah, mentioned in the megillah itself, is meant to make sure that everyone can find the joy in this holiday, no matter their financial circumstances. Give to the
Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund
,
Jewish Family Services
, or a charity of your choice that helps the poor. Also, feel free to get started on your Passover giving early this year by participating in the JFS Matzah & Macaroon Drive.
Mishloach Manot: Gifts Bags for Friends
Share gifts of food and drink with neighbors and friends, just like the Jews did in the time of Esther, as they celebrated a narrow escape from Haman’s wicked plot. Think about including delicious
hamentaschen
in your gift bags, and save a few for yourself!
Seudat Purim: A Joyous Purim Meal
Yes, eating a large and delicious meal (usually accompanied by the responsible consumption of alcohol) is a
mitzvah,
too! Join in with friends, family, and community, and spread the joy.
Purimspiel
This year’s hilarious production of
Chozen: A Very Frozen Purimspiel
will debut on the Sunday before Purim at our Purim carnival! We’ll have a repeat performance as a “dinner theater” experience prior to the megillah reading on Monday night. See below for the full schedule of events.

HEALTH SAFETY AT
CONGREGATION TIFERETH ISRAEL
|
|
|
At Tifereth Israel, we take the health, safety, and well-being of our members, staff, and guests very seriously. We have been paying very close attention to updates in the news and from our local officials about the
spread of COVD-19, also known as coronavirus. Members of the synagogue's leadership recently sent a message (either by email or letter) to the entire congregation about what the staff is doing, and what those who come to Tifereth Israel, can do to help protect everyone. Please click
HERE to review this message.
