The Rev. Forrest E. Ethridge (1923-2021)
 The Rev. Forrest E. Ethridge, 97, of Fort Payne, Alabama, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2021. He was born May 13, 1923 to the late Eugene Wright Ethridge and Addie Lee Echols Ethridge.
"Forrest was a great gift to the Diocese of Georgia with his love of serving in our county seat towns," Bishop Frank Logue said. "He brought one congregation to parish status, served when two buildings were built, and helped found a congregation."
Ethridge was a graduate of Georgia Tech and Nashota House Seminary in Wisconsin. He was ordained a deacon on June 10, 1967 and a priest on January 25, 1968, both times by Bishop Albert Rhett Stuart. Ethridge dedicated over 52 years to serving his ministry in numerous Episcopal churches including St. Philip's, Hinesville (1968-1969), which he served when the present church building was built. He brought St. Michael's, Waynesboro to parish status when he served there from 1969-1983. He next served at Holy Cross, Thomson and Trinity, Harlem (1983-91), before becoming one of the founders of St. Mary Magdalene in Louisville. Ethridge assisted with The Church in Georgia and also served on Diocesan Council. After his retirement, he continued to serve as Priest Associate at St. Philips in Fort Payne, Alabama, the town where his son-in-law edited the local newspaper.
Funeral services were held on March 27th at St. Philips with graveside services following at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. He is survived by his daughter Cheryl Ethridge Whittle and grandson Chris Stehle. He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Cruze Ethridge, his parents, brother James Merritt Ethridge, and son-in-law Jerry Whittle.

As members of The Episcopal Church, Holy Week brings us together as fellow Christians in anticipation of a joyous Easter. The clergy and people of the Diocese of the Dominican Republic are worshiping together with all of you in the Diocese of Georgia during this special time.

Deacon's Retreat Scheduled for June
"Being Changed by the Face of Christ"
 The 2021 Deacon's Retreat, scheduled June 4, 5, 6th at Honey Creek, welcomes the Rev. Becky Rowell and the Rev. Terri Degenhardt to lead us through a weekend of Icon Writing, Meditations and Music. Bishop Frank Logue will be spending some time with us during the weekend to answer any questions, concerns, or thanksgivings we may wish to offer. Middle School New Beginnings Event Online
 We are all looking forward to gathering together in person as soon as we can do so safely! In the meantime, some of our high school youth have come together to offer youth in grades 6-9 a small taste of one of our favorite middle school events! This event, led by high school youth for middle school youth, will take place on Monday and Tuesday evenings, April 26 and 27. Our high schoolers will offer some thoughts on Friends, Changes, the Church and Me, and Sharing our Gifts. As they prepare, they are thinking back to their own middle school years and what they wish someone had said to them.

Resources for Lent and Eastertide
 The Diocese's daily reflections during Lent, written by both clergy and laity throughout the Diocese is well underway online and a print copy of the devotions is now available as well. The reflections began on Ash Wednesday and carry through to Easter Sunday. These reflections continue with the theme for this past November's Diocesan Convention: "Thriving in the Vine." Jesus gave this image of himself as the vine and us as the branches to his followers on the night before he died, as he knew they would face tremendous hardships and he wanted them to see how life-giving connection to him is for each of us. The Diocese of Georgia's social media pages ( Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) will post a piece of each day's reflection, along with a link to the PDF with the full reflection.

Diocesan Office Update and News
The Diocesan Office will be closed on Friday in observance of Good Friday. This week, Bishop Logue, Canon Varner, and Canon Lasch will officiate and preach for Holy Week services. To view the services, visit the Diocese of Georgia Facebook Page or the Diocese of Georgia YouTube page. Daniel Garrick will be out of the office beginning on Wednesday. He will return on Monday. In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, Diocesan staff are not all in the office at the same time with some working remotely. Email will be the quickest way to get in touch with the staff, although you are still welcome to call us on the phone! If we miss your call, please leave a voicemail with a detailed message.
