Our Apologies - We linked the wrong pattern for the Muti Pattern Cardigan. It's in the Early Fall 2019, not the Fall 2019 The Correct link is below.
Trendsetter Multi Pattern Cardigan!
This beautiful piece designed by Deborah Newton is knit with three colors of Trendsetter Rustica, a lovely DK weight yarn that is 75% New Zealand Wool and 25% Silk.

This pattern was featured in the EARLY Fall 2019 Vogue Knitting magazine, which is available on our web site by clicking here, if you don't already have the issue.

It's available in 4 different color ways. Click here to pick your favorite today! (Please note, color of model is not available)

The pattern is NOT included in the kit!

Rimu from Zealana

This beautiful scarf is knit with 4 skeins of Rimu from Zealana. Spun in New Zealand, Rimu is a luxurious blend of Merino and Brush-tail Possim. Not the same as our US based 'road kill' possum, this fiber is so soft and delicious, it's often compared to cashmere.

This delightful scarf is knit on US 6s and is a simple 3 x 3 rib, so just knits and purls! As an added bonus, this yarn is machine washable! (Model shown in Natural)

Auntie
Auntie Woolie Says...
Dahlin's!

It's June, which means celebrations for Pride all month as well as Juneteenth on June 19th. We're also looking towards one of the most peculiar summers we've ever experienced. With so many of us practicing social distancing and changing our behaviors to accommodate our current reality, it's easy to feel overwhelmed and stressed.

In recent days we've seen terrible violence perpetrated on some of the most vulnerable members of our society, in particular toward people of color and the LGBTA+ community.

We're just a yarn shop, but we're also people who participate in any number of needle arts. We may knit, crochet, weave, needle felt, spin, or any number of other crafts. We love all colors, sizes, and compositions of yarns. We support our neighbors, friends, and loved ones of all colors, religions, gender, and sexual orientation and do our small part to promote togetherness and love. We believe in our community and know that most people just want to do the right thing.

Until next time, please stay well and...

Happy Stitching!
The store front may be closed, but you can still:
This is an ON-LINE class held using Zoom technology . You'll be able to join from anywhere using whatever technology you have, a PC, a Mac, an Apple iPhone of iPad, or an android device. Log in information will be shared with class attendees prior to the class.
A Virtual Class!

Join us Saturday June 20 from 9AM to Noon to learn about Yarn Substitutions !

Subtitled " Everything you wanted to know about yarn, but were afraid to ask", this always popular class will help you see what we do to choose a substitute yarn from your pattern.

You love the pattern, but aren’t sure about the yarn. You love the yarn, but will it work for this pattern? These are issues we face every day in the shop.

In this class will unravel the seemingly complex world of yarn substituting. We will explore the numerous types of yarns, yarn weights, composition, yardage requirements, and more! We will look at real world substitutions using projects we’ve made in the shop. In addition, we’ll look at substitution questions brought by you and your fellow attendees! As we’re not actually knitting or crocheting, you won’t need to bring any supplies.
This weekend is designed to be low stress, relaxing, educational, and most of all, fun! Kris will be around to talk about the new design you'll receive as part of the weekend, or you can work with her on any project of your choice. There's no formal instruction, but we're sure you'll learn a lot, have some fun, and gain some new friends from all over!
Stitching with Kris!

Join us September 25 - 27 for a relaxing weekend in Cambria

We don't know what the fall will bring to us, but we've decided to go ahead with a weekend event we've been planning.

Imagine spending three days in Cambria with an industry professional and life-long knitter and crocheter. Now imagine this in a beautiful Inn surrounded by people, like you, that also love to knit and crochet. That's the idea behind "Stitching with Kris." Think of it as a weekend knitting group.

We've set this for the fall and made our cancellation policies clear so that we keep everyone's safety and comfort in mind.

Famous Poncho Pattern

Grab 1200 yards of worsted weight yarn and crochet this Famous Poncho, from our friends at Berroco. We'd recommend one of three different yarns:

Remix - a wool free option that is made from a variety of recycled fibers and yields a lovely tweedy look with plenty of drape. 6 skeins

Ultra Wool - a machine washable wool yarn available in a variety of colors. 6 skeins

Sesame - a fun, multi colored yarn that's been a shop favorite since it first launched. 6 skeins

6 skeins of any of these yarns makes the piece, and they're all machine washable!
We did mention sale yarn, didn't we? It's easy to find what's discounted at the web site, just click on "On Sale" and see everything we have discounted! These are final sale items and we're unable to special order them, as a rule.

Yarn Bombing Group
Our tree outside the shop needs a new sweater, and we need your help!

Our beloved, and much photographed 'yarn bombed' tree outside the shop needs to be refreshed. The lovely squares all around the tree are getting to the point where we really need to replace it.

We need squares! Make us a 12" square. If it's a little longer, that's ok! Any yarn, though the best would be something like Berroco Ultra Wool, as it's durable, washable, and holds it shape well over time. We'll take any fiber, any design, any technique! So knit it, crochet it, weave it, whatever makes you happy!

Here's a knit and a crochet pattern for 4" granny squares. If you multiply everything by 3, you should get a 12" square!

Then drop your square(s) off at the shop, or mail them to us at the address below:
Ball & Skein
4210 Bridge St STE 6
Cambria, CA 93428

Be sure to include your name so we can thank you for them!

We'll let you know when we're ready to decorate the tree.
It won't be soon.
It's always a fun day and we love the help!
