ENV's got you: $500 emergency student grants
|
Today, the College of Environmental Design launches the
ENV Emergency Assistance Program
to help students shouldering unforeseen hardships in their academic, professional and personal lives due to COVID-19.
The program awards a one-time $500 stipend to deserving students enrolled during the 2019-20 academic year.

All classes, exams and most services are remote/virtual for the remainder of the semester. 2020 Commencement ceremonies are postponed. Cal Poly Pomona reported the
recovery
of a student confirmed as the university's first coronavirus case.

- Credit/No Grading grading options for Spring 2020. Students have three grading options for their final course grades.
- CPP student services support academics and well-being. See this PolyCentric roundup for information on emergency grants and housing, and a list of 50 campus and community resources for housing, food, finances, and physical and mental health.
- Get the lowdown on student refunds. CPP Health Alert Student FAQs now has a Refund Information section.
- The University Library building and 24-hour computer lab are closed until further notice. Students can borrow university laptops (and mobile hotspots) for their coursework. Email studentsuccess@cpp.edu.
- All Summer 2020 courses will be taught in virtual mode. See the Summer website for details.

- Buildings 1, 2, 3, 7, 13, 89 and 209 are closed and locked for the rest of the term. Studios and classrooms cannot be accessed as long as the state's stay-home order is in place.
- ENV students can get free design software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, AutoCAD, ArcMap GIS and Chem Office. They can also download utilities and productivity apps, even Microsoft Windows OS for Windows 10. (See the full list.)
- Hundreds of remote student jobs are on Handshake. These don't require being on campus. Log in and search using keyword "remote."
- ENV coffee table book. ENV Council invites classmates to submit their best design, research and academic works for a limited-edition coffee table book. Deadline is May 31. For questions, email cppenvcollegecouncil@gmail.com.
- The ENV Model Shop and Architecture Fabrication Lab are closed, instructional technicians Delmer Guillen and Paul Saskas are available for consultations.
- ENV Student Success Center offers virtual/remote advising. Book appointments with advisors Teresa Castaneda and Elizabeth Guevara-Laxamana via CPP Connect.
- Get career advising. Schedule an appointment with ENV Career Specialist Alie Ivie via Handshake.

SCAG will use Kim's research findings to estimate future urban development

's paper, "Passive Cooling Strategies for Low Carbon Architecture," was originally going to be published for
Windsor 2020: Resilient Comfort in a Heating World, hosted this year at Cumberland Lodge, a 17th-century country house in England.
The event, scheduled April 16-19, was canceled in response to COVID-19. Conference organizers say the proceedings will be published online.

Throughout my career, I have assisted many individuals in getting to the next stage in their career. I have also helped individuals that were having difficulties securing employment. Even though they applied to several positions, they were not receiving invites to be interviewed.
I would ask to review their resume to ensure that it has the necessary key elements. Most job seekers do not take the time to ensure their resume clearly states their strengths and skills that are relevant to that position.
